I'm 54 and just started yet another new job. I got laid off from the last two. It's so unlikely that I'll ever have the same job for 20 years. I have driven the same car for 22 years, though.

The value of a $400 gift card depends on the type of work, full time vs. part time, local vs. national/international company, and whether it was authorized by the store or corporate or what. $400 for 20 years still amounts to $20/yr. You could have found that much in your couch in that time.

For my 5 year anniversary I got to pick from a catalog. Most of the choices were junk but I ended up going with a wall clock. It was still junk but I hung it up in my cubicle to class the place up a bit.

wow 20 years, i'm just about to hit 10 years. we get 3 extra off days which is great, but nothing else. Some better tech companies even get a 30 day 'recharge' for every 5 years of service.

Currently at home with a burnout. To top it off had to go to hospital with kidneystones. All that isn't as bad as not being able to get a rtx 3080 for msrp

On my 10th anniversary, I was awarded a blackout shift. It meant that I could place that award on a day I didn't want to be scheduled. Plus, I had choice for either a $10 voucher for the cafeteria or a pair of movie tickets. That's about it. They know how to make a person feel really swell.

All I received was a nicely printed years of service paper and a plastic pin. Companies wonder why the younger generation a are not loyal to a company any longer and this is why. They grew up watching their caretakers being taken advantage of...

Hey at least you got to keep your job. I hit my 21yr mark and got laid off last year at 50yo. Was unemployed for 8 mos but now gainfully employed again thank God!
