Hello, quick question here and I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times or if I posted this on the wrong forum.  Is there such a thing as guest RMA for EVGA motherboards?  I just talked to Asus and on their motherboards, well for Rampage V Edition 10 anyway if you are not the original owner you get no warranty at all.  I'm thinking if the motherboard sells for 6-$700 can't it at least last longer than a year?  I have 4 of those motherboards, 2 brand new 2 used and now I'm thinking I should have gone with EVGA...

Dear Artah,

Good question.  I can confirm that EVGA allows for the warranty to transfer for up to 3 years from the original EVGA shipping date on all new motherboards.  Sorry to hear about your experience and I wish you luck.

I've had trouble with ASUS and SUPERMICRO and wound up eating the price of the board. Not with EVGA, they have treated me well (I RMA a motherboard) as long as your within the 3 year warranty your good to go.

I'm hoping for X299 next month after Comptex.

I can confirm that warranty is transferred.

Bought X99 Classy from Amazon (UK) as used. Registered at EVGA EU website no problems at all. Furthermore you don't lose warranty if you mount motherboard waterblocks as long there is no physical damage to the board itself.

Not now. Shortly before Computex that's possibly worst time to switch unless you want to stick with Windows7 as X99 is last chipset which is supported - then yes. Last few weeks to do that.

On the other hand, if rumors are correct then X99 is much better platform than X299. Simply because 6/8 core models of Haswell/Broadwell-E support 40 lanes while Skylake-E will shaft that down to 28.  If lanes are needed then certainly AMD's X399 looks much more interesting - but no EVGA here.

It's one of those things most people do not really consider but it does make a difference how easy it is to deal with an RMA. It's one area I think EVGA leads at.

I was thinking more of the 12 cores, I just sold my 10c to get ready for it.

The 12c CPUs sound interesting but lanes matter more for me than cores :D Each to their own I guess!

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't get a cpu with 28 lanes either even if it had 24 cores.  Can't wait to see EVGA's version of the X299 :)

I think I would wait for the bugs worked out of the X299 first and maybe 1 or 2 bios updates after that, kinda like buying the 1st model car, your better off waiting.

I agree. I just think that the other motherboard manufactures don't give a f***.

You'll be surprised how many people actually enjoy sadomasochism.  Especially when it says EVGA on the box.

I've tried to overclock my 6950x cpu and failed.
I've looked at many posts from different places on how to do it.
I've tried to copy other peoples stuff to no avail.
Any good tutors on the EVGA Classified (X99) motherboards on overclocking?
I didn't think that I'm that stupid but now I'm beginning to wonder!!!

I bought an EVGA X99 Classified the moment they hit the street along with a i7 5960X.  I didn't have any issues other than a random PCI-E lane that didn't want to recognize my Sound Blaster ZxR in the PCI-E x 4 slot.  I posted my issue and in a few weeks, EVGA put out a BIOS that fixed my issue.  I wasn't the only one who had the same issue either.

@jfw06013  Overclocking on X99 Classified or FTW (Original) is fairly straight forward. I'm fairly new to overclocking and a few months ago I received good help from forum posters.  Perhaps making a thread dedicated to your CPU and any problems will yield some good responses.

In what way did it fail?  basically you have these things to adjust, not 100% sure about EVGA since I've been using Asus motherboards and can probably get a lot more accurate information if I decide to switch to EVGA.

0.  Inserted this one after re-reading your post :) Not the best thing to copy other people's settings because CPUs seem to never get created equal especially with the 6950x with 3.4 billion transistors.
1.  CPU core voltage stay around and mostly below 1.3v.
2.  Uncore a.k.a. cache, on the voltage stay below 1.3v and don't overclock it at all until the core is stable, you will get between 3.5-3.7GHz, it's not like a Haswell where you can almost match the core with uncore frequency.
3.  Input voltage between 1.920-1.940v
4.  Turn off spread spectrum/virtualization and possibly temporarily turn off all power saving features until you get a stable overclock.
5.  I would try to keep the base clock at 100MHz because when you go higher other things can de-stabilize
6.  Aim for 4.3GHz at first to make sure you can even stay stable with that on core frequency.
7.  If you will be using tests with AVX2 expect to have a lower clock speed stability and possibly more core voltage.  Example is I was stable with everything else with 1.27v @4.4GHz on my 6950X but when I throw in handbreak and using AVX2 I had to increase the core voltage to 1.291v.
8.  Make sure you don't overclock the memory at all while you are trying to get stable with the CPU which is supposed to be 2400MHz, that means don't use XMP because anything over is considered an overclock.
9.  Don't go past 1.2v on VCSA, less than 1.1v is good but even less is good, you will need to find the right one for your CPU because more or less can make it unstable and also for this voltage always adjust in small increments like 10mV or something like that.
10.  If you can adjust the VCCIO then drop it down .05v when you're ready to increase your memory frequency.
11.  It's late I'm sure I'm missing something if someone wants to correct my errors or add in things I missed, I'm sure I'll find some tomorrow after I am less sleep deprived.

I hope any of these help and good luck on your prayers to the silicon gods.
