Hi guys. My son was gaming and suddenly we heard a pop and smoke and FIRE, yes bloody FIRE on the back of my gpu. Now I guess I have to do an RMA. Never done one before. Anyway this is just like this other thread here -    - that guy has burns in exactly the same place as me!!!  My card is only 2 years old and it blew up, I am now worried about my motherboard and other stuff as I can't test until I borrow another gpu. Have you guys seen anything like this before??? Thanks

You can post whatever you want as long as it is on topic and family friendly.

You can read the full forum rules but that should get you through most of what happens every day here.

And yes EVGA support is active in the forums, you will very likely get a reply from one of them. - But you should still do a RMA (properly) and maybe replace your power supply.

You need a certain number of posts (10, I think). - It's to help control spammers.

If the link is very important strip the https:// and put spaces in-between the periods.

Example: https://ipv6.google.com
Becomes: ipv6 . google . com

Hello dawoodakram! I have found your support ticket and also replied to your e-mail. We have set up an RMA ticket for you so you can start your RMA request.

From your picture, it looks like a resister blew on the card, which can occur from things like a power surge, etc. The resistor actually acts as a fuse to prevent excess current from causing even more damage. All PCB's are also made of non-flammable material and any burns would be extinguished quickly. I apologize if seeing the burn mark may have been upsetting and we can certainly assist you with the warranty process.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

ok Adam thank you very much for explaining. It was worrying to see a flame  but it did indeed go out very quickly.  I don't know why it happened, there was no power surge on my pc which is in the same room but I guess maybe some power issue happened just in that pc. I have done some research and found this is in fact very rare on this card. Can only find a handful of people who have had this issue. Thanks for all your help. Dawood

You're welcome

You could actually do a Google search for just about any graphics card from any manufacturer and you can find similar spots where a resistor may have blown out. It is simply a safety mechanism that most are unfamiliar with. Obviously, the card is non-functional after that resistor is blown and we are happy to help with the warranty process.

Thanks Adam and Thank you Coolmistry. EVGA is my favourite brand  in gpus   because A. they make awesome cards and B. the warranty support. I have never had a problem with an EVGA product and I started with computers in 1982.  I am sure any board with this resistor on from any company could fail and Adam is right a quick google search reveals actually other companies have many more fails than EVGA!  Anyway thanks for your help I will wait and see what happens with my RMA and report back.
