So I've owned this power supply for a little over a year and within the last two weeks the fan has become louder and louder. It started very slowly with a squeak that only happened every now and then but it has been going nonstop for hours now and it audible even with headphones on playing music or video games. I've found stopping the fan will give me 20-30 minutes of somewhat quiet before the squeak comes back, but is there anyway to fix this permanently without buying a new power supply or having my computer in pieces while I RMA it?.

Welcome to the forums..There are 'no user servicable' parts inside the PSU, according to EVGA.

Buy another PSU on the cheap that's just 'good enough' so you can use your PC while you RMA the 850W P2 that has a 10 year warranty if you registered it..Use the OuterVision PSU Calculator to estimate wattage need.

Disassemble the unit and replace the fan yourself with one of equivalent/near equivalent type..Not a big deal if you're mechanically/electrically inclined, done it a few times, but risk of shock/death if you're not careful and will void the warranty..The connector will need to be changed..The fan is a Globe RL4Z B1402512HH (140mm x 140mm x 25mm, 12V, 0.5A, 1800 RPM, 135.74 CFM) and is the same one used in a 750W P2.

DO NOT use the 850W P2 cables with any other PSU, the pinouts can be different and short out something.

    Disassembly might void your warranty.

Ask evga support about doing a cross-ship RMA on that 850 P2 PSU.
