Hello, is anybody home? I returned from a half-dead state and am trying to beat some life into a 4/5 dead horse. I could need some power for a challenge established by a young, enthusiastic team as you were when you were born. Anyone who sees this, please look up Base Campe at above link - and choose "jump to last post". Anxious to see if anyone is here. The thread is almost years old Hope you are all well Best little mermaid - aka anne-lise

Thank you OlddanIT for joining Serious Crunchers. bill1024 has promised a couple of rounds; thank you bill1024. And he did some thorough research at all pertinent threads, I noticed, and I like that. FBI? CIA? No, just a mermaid with tailfins whose job it is to know what happens

Thank you for your very kind words, yodap It would be a thrill for everybody to have an orangutan joining I have whispered about the possibility of that happening- couldn't help it ....It's not what you see on each and every team. sujo1 - your guest captain - will be excited I didn't know he was this lonely, or I would have talked to him some moreand Crunchie our AWOL Base Camp mascot, will receive you with open arms - he always wanted an orangutan as a playmate (he was found again by sujo1, by the way, after our Base Camp castle fell victim to a Murder&Aquisition scheme, I don't know how long ago)

Hi LM, great to see you back on the forums again! I'll join in the next trek with my base camp crunching ID. I saw your little fairy tale about our team on the WCG forum- it is a nice way to recount what was not a happy part of our history. Once upon a time, a young vigorous team entered the WCG Forums and crunched like mad. Their team thread was like a large litter of puppies playing. Until one day one of the puppies became unwell and sadly that was the end of a happy team thread. No happy ending yet, but at least the unwell puppy is gone and we have many other puppies join since then. When our crunching team started, most of us focused on WCG, but many of the puppies have discovered other BOINC projects. Maybe with your added motivation we can get our WCG forum thread going again.

Punchy, Punchy, those words of yours were so ... how can I put it? So: they-gave-me-a-lump-in-my-throat-and-very-dewey-eyes-ish yes, OK, that's it, yes: That pretty much covers it. If you go to this post, you'll see that I almost gave up, and in this post everything had turned around. And in just one week. When I asked about what happened to your old thread, I deliberately titled the thread "Crunching@EVGA" hoping that you/we will soon have a theme thread called something like: "Crunching@EVGA - it's a new day"/ or .... "a new beginning" or this very sophisticated "- the renaissance", or the full Monty: "- la renaissance". You will find out something fitting when you're ready. Team Kraland those who designed the 'Kraland Challenge I" which we are going to by proxycall their team thread "Team Kraland - le Come Back". Very elegant, I think. I found it so sad that all of you were punished across the board because of one person becoming unwell - which probably wasn't his fault either .... So, I'm looking forward to a new and brighter future for you in WCG. And in the meantime: Thank you for you affirmation of coming to SeriousCrunchers for the Kraland Challenge I.

I don't think we've ever met before LM, I started crunching December of 2013. Before that I did folding at home with EVGA off and on, mostly on for a year or two before that. I was with team ABIT, the ABIT folding wolves starting Sept 2006 for several years. Abit went out of business and the team slowly got smaller and smaller. The folding's PG/Stanford group angered the folders too many times. So I went over to the crunching team for the most part. My DC life history. I'm in upstate NY USA, it is getting colder out side, so I can fire up some more hardware get the house nice and toasty. And it is nice to meet you.

My daughter is up in Buffalo in college. I live a couple hours north of NYC. Nice area, not to far from a couple small cities, and not far from farm land and woods. I have friends and family way up North, a bit more East of Buffalo near Canada. Winters are way too long for me to live up there. You have to love snow and the cold weather. We get snow, and it gets cold, not like up there though, not for as long either. Can't wait to see the scores update for this challenge.

That makes two of us. Your daughter tries winter the hard way, then. Seems you have found a nicely balanced place for yourself considerably more to the south – and shielded from the very short winter days. I’m pretty much on the 55th pararellel North which would land me up in Canada, were I on your continent. For a short while I lived in upstate NY, first Highland on the west bank of the Hudson, and then in Poughkeepsie. And yes, there were many nice places up and down – Rhinebek, Westpoint, and the Catskills inland. Looking forward to you being a future Base Camper as time and interest allows for you, bill1024

That's funny, I go to Highland a couple times a month in the Summer for a car cruise they have there. I lived in Poughkeepsie too for a while. Too crowded for me, had to move out of there. Too much crime. The Hudson valley is a beautiful area. Hyde Park and the FDR library and all the mansions on the river. Great hunting and fishing. None of the mansions are mine sorry to say. There are a few of us on this forum from this area that I know of. Well stay warm up there in the great white North!! It's a small world isn't it.

bill1024It's a small world isn't it. You can say that again. Poughkeepsie was beginning to slide when we were there far back in 1985. It’s so sad. The town had renovated Main Street, but it didn’t work. Oh, yes, Hyde Park. We went there. It was in February, freezing cold, some 20F and then all of a sudden the temperature rose to upwards of 60F. Never tried anything like it. Yes, I believe yodap is from upstate NY if my memory serves me. And Punchy is from Florida? EDIT: P.S. Between Punchy's 5 dogs and your hounds, I asked sujo1, the SeriousCruncher captain, to stock up some more on dog food.

Saratoga Springs - I love to be able to tack some geography to you On a separate trip we spent a night there. It was a very clean place. I can still see one particular meticulous front yard for me. The owners must have swept and vacuumed every day. Our first frost came November 6th, and that was sort of late. yodap, didn't you dedicate one of your rigs to me at some trek for some reason?

LM I had to pull my systems for 24 hours or so to help EVGA get the 2nd spot back in our FB sprint. These sprints are short, will be over very soon, and I will be back. Good news it is cold here now 16F , and will be chilly for a while. I'll be back with a good bit of power. I am keeping an eye on the standings.

That’s how it should be, bill1024. You were ready at a very short notice even without knowing Base Camp I’m a simple person and don’t understand all your projects and races all over Planet Crunching, but I appreciate what you’re doing here, there and everywhere and all I see is that you are really good crunchers in my little corner of the Crunching World.I was really surprised to see SeriousCrunchers riding right into a #3 spot.Wouldn’t hurt with a bagful to be released at some point- man needs his home heated Since my return deltavee has put in one day at the skinny Base Camp treks amounting to some peak in the graphics such as you can see here and hereI have no idea what his plans may be or not be at this trek, but I shouldn’t be surprised if he surprised us again.

If you have nothing better to do, Base Camp is conduction an informal trek to Team SNURK & friends - you may know SNURK, the creator of the SNURK sign which many of us carry.

Hmm, are you trying to trick us? SNURK and friends are only 2 spots above us in the WCG Birthday Challenge and we have a small chance of catching them in the remaining 28 hours of the challenge.

Definitely not, Punchy, no way I'm part of your team during this challenge and I am with you for the duration. It was just general information of Base Camp's immediate plan. Officially we would begin on November 23rd after the 13th WCG Birthday, but as tradition bids, two Base Campers made a headstart Yes, Snurk & friends are doing remarkably well, aren't they? And I noticed you (we) advanced from #23 to #21 when I last saw - probably due to tanner2 moving home from SeriousCrunchers.

We are up to #19 in the WCG Birthday Challenge now with a good chance at 18 and maybe 17. Besides tanner2 rejoining, we have some big contributors like bill1024 and HK-Steve joining late due to the PG challenge which ran at the same time, along with a number of other folks that build up our team totals. Hello, McViper...
