How did you build it? What's it like?

Sorry for the delay, built in about 4 hours. Sanded about another 2 hours. Then multiple clear coating with light sanding in between. each additional coat was about an hour with 24 hrs between. I used oak and mahogany

just built one for under $100 getting stuff from IKEA. 5 table legs, and 98 inch kitchen countertop. Going to add another ~70 inch section to make it L-desk. But so far it is a vast improvement to what I had looks wise and organization.

My wife and I are looking at getting a wood or butcher block counter top from Lowes or Home Depot and then buying a few legs.  Might end up doing it soon since we've been fortunate enough to be able to work from home for months.

I did what you are thinking of doing. I bought my butcher block top at Lowes and used these legs for it since they are rated at 300lbs per leg. Works great. I bought the 4-foot butcher block.

Nice work.  It looks great.  I like your set up.  Looks much more tidy than my work/gaming space.

I need to clean up the cables behind my pc, but I wanted a very clean setup. Another suggestion if you want something inexpensive. A solid core door works as well if you want to do a longer desk or 2 setups on 1 desk.

Here is my setup. I bought 2 10' butcher block tops from HD.  I took one and made a 45degree cut in it and flipped one side over and joined & glued it to make the corner section.  Then stained and finished the top.  I went with some Ikea legs and it is pretty solid. Now just to get my graphics card and peripherals to finish my build.  I'm hoping to get a Samsung odyssey G9 that will go in the corner (if it even fits)

Thanks! I needed all the space I could get for the laser projects and stuff.  Ikea sells some cabinets that are the same heights as these legs so I might add a couple of those after I get the pc built and start using it.

CB2 also has some small file cabinets that could fit under there.  I bought some for the home office/spare bedroom.
