HP is on the verge of introducing their new gaming grade, Omen-branded gaming monitors. The main design option for these was pure refresh rate speed, with both monitors sacrificing on resolution - a 1080p density is all there is) for blazing fast, 240 Hz refresh rates. The panel type is, of course, the most capable of high refresh rates: TN. The Omen X 25 manages this feat with help of NVIDIA's G-Sync proprietary module, while the X 25f only features support for adaptive sync (this means it's likely G-Sync compatible, at the least, as well as being well paired with AMD's FreeSync).

The Omen X25 will be making an appearance in Europe in June for 630€ ($550), and will be released in the US by September of this year. The Omen X 25f will be available in early June in the US and late June in Europe, for $450 (€460). The prices aren't too bad I believe. I'm not crazy about the monitor stand design though.

    I personally would pick 1440p and a 144hz over 1080p and 240hz. The difference between 60hz and 144hz is huge while going from 144hz to 240hz isn't as big. Or well I feel the increase in image quality would make 1440p better then 1080p.

    Guess it's just that I wouldn't buy a "gamer" monitor that is only 1080p anymore that is priced at $500. It's at the same price as a good 1440p gaming monitor and I would almost consider a 4K monitor since while more expensive I feel it has added value as long as you have a graphics card for it.

    Yeah, seems an odd time to put money/ marketing into producing a  '1080'  resolution monitor nowadays....

    should be bare minimum of  1440p -> then 4K & 8K

    +1  I concur hence why I went with 1440p/144hz.

    they must see the entry price point as something worth chasing
    I agree 1440p will be my next high-end monitor.... my 4K is getting long in the tooth
    .. my next 4k will be a new TV - especially if my cable provider ever upgrades their service from 1080p
