mikele59 I run 32bit system, not 64. Lappy, not desktop. Nothing wrong, except windows 8 (!) My 7 is more faster than your 8 for sure... Not even close sheesh... Why did you install 32bit?

I don't see why "64 is crap," or why, if you have an x64 compatible CPU you wouldn't just install that... but whatever.

K, relatively new to this, but tried nevertheless. I run a 32bit version of Windows 7, and want this due to the fact that it'll take me ages to reinstall everything I have on a clean x64 version (also, asides from memory, have no actual need for x64). I followed the instructions start to end and encountered no errors whatsoever. I rebooted, chose the "All memory" option, and it seems to work fine (shows all 4GB now and though the lower right corner of the screen says "Test Mode Win7"). However, after a relatively short period of time, with little to no action on my part, I get BSODs stating either 'page fault in nonpage area' or 'PFN list corrupt'. Memory was tested and is fine, and I have new drivers for everything as far as I can tell. Any ideas what might be screwing this up? Really want this to work... Thanks in advance!

mikele59 Why I Installed 32 bit is not the point and this was already explained BUT here you will see why 64 is crap, here you can activate all memory you want with this bootkit. I DID IT ! Go ahead, make your day : www.itsec.it/2012/08/06/x86-4gb-memory-limit-from-a-technical-perspective/#comment-3836 Why would I bother going backwards? Gosh then holy cow!!!! 16 bit or 8 bit must be FANTASTIC! Further your link does even hint using 64bit is crap or inferior. Because obviously native 64bit IS SUPERIOR. That's great you can use someone else's boot kit to trick 32 bit Windows into running SOME mode of 64 bit. Personally I'd just use the real deal and install 64 bit. Go ahead, make your day, use the real deal!

Probably a driver issue being mapped into the wrong or unexpected memory space. You can probably narrow it down by booting into safe mode and going into device manager and disable individual hardware and reboot. Start with say, your audio device, then Ethernet, etc etc until you find the one that doesn't cause a BSOD.

@HeavyHemi: Well, gave it a shot, but nothing seemed to make it more stable. Updated pretty much everything that I could find as well, but still getting BSODs. Would that link posted by mikele59 (the one for downloading a bootkit) be of any use in this case? Or would that basically leave me in the same place that I'm already at with my unstable full memory "Test Mode"?

Glad I didnt have to necro this thread, as its easily the best thread on this subject out there. Anyhoo, like that one guy a fair while back in this thread, I've hit a snag at the; editbin /release ntkl64g.exe command. I get the same error as well: LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'ntkl64g.exe' I'm currently running Windows 7 (32x, but I guess thats obvious), and any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks! p.s. Oh, and another question. If I've exited out of command prompt at this stage (I cant wait all night for a response, no offense) will I have to re-input all the commands?

I highly recommend anyone using 4GB or more of total system memory go to 64 bit Windows but for anyone who wishes to stay with 32 bit the original OP's solution is still a good one and in fact it's the only solution for 32 bit. You can always back up your personal files and make a fresh 64 bit install and restore your personal files. However as previously mentioned you would have to reinstall your programs but it isn't that much work and you can spread the workload for that over several days.

Why do you need 2008? You can use 2012, it's the same thing.

makecert.exe comes with both Visual Studio and the Windows SDK, just download and install.
