So I put my EVGA X299 together. Turn the power supply on and starts up. I thought that is odd. Anyway, I go into bios to make sure everything shows up as it should. All is good. F10 enter reboots back into bios settings. Power off CMOS reset power on and starts right up without hitting the power button. CMOS checksum error F1 to skip F12 to enter setup. Well F1 does nothing, press F12, goes to bios settings. Save and exit goes right into bios settings. Tried the other bios' same thing. Remove CPU reinstall. No change. Update bios. No change. All components show in bios. CPU 9800X mem G.Skill trident. all default settings nothing overclocked.

It shouldn't be starting up without you powering it on. Booting directly to bios usually means no hdd/ssd is detected.

Have you tried to install windows yet? Is your boot order set correctly inside the bios?

Sounds like the power button may be stuck or faulty.

Wouldn't work, is working with DVD.
could the issue have been that drives had been in another windows 10 machine?

Or you put the Power button wire on the reset pin and the reset pin is on the power or another pin, like pwr led etc... Isnt F1 for a raid setup from boot?!?

Windows 10 installations rarely move over from system to system due to the way the Master Boot Record, MBR, works with UEFI. You are likely going to need to reinstall Windows, or you can try changing your CSM Storage configuration settings to check if that would help.

I don't see where the OP stated which x299 board he has, what bios version and what power supply.

If his system spec's are in a signature, sorry, it doesn't show on my phone.

I was able to install win10 on the x299 dark. I had to use a drive with nothing on it though. I used bios 1.07, 1.17 and.1.18. Didn,t connect any power, reset or HDD wires at the time. Used onboard power button. I have restart issues I can live with for now. Still, have the issue that if power off turn off PSU and turn PSU back on the board fires up. It shouldn't do that.
Thank you, Sagin for your help.

You should go back to Bios 1.18 and use New Drives.
Or Clean all your Drives with diskpart this then makes them new to Windows 10.
Disable CSM and set to UEFI Boot Disable Fast Boot in the Bios.
Are you using any M.2 Drives if so they Must Be NVMe PCIe M.2 Drives.
M.2 SATA Drives will Not Work on your X299 Dark Motherboard.
What Graphics Card are you running?
What Make Model of your Power Supply and Age are you using?

No problem. Look inside the bios under the advanced menu/power management and make sure "Restore AC Power Loss" is set to Power Off.

Also on the X299 Dark MB and others as well the fist power on can take 2-3 Restarts because the memory.
You Must allow this Process to Compete Each Time, my X299 with 32GB of memory takes 2 Restarts my X299 with 64GB takes 3.
And can take up to 7 minutes to complete this Process.
Learning to Training the Memory and CPU. This also will happen after you remove the CMOS Battery or Press the Small Red Button on the Motherboard or on the Real I/O Panel.
Do Not Treat this X299 Motherboard as if it were an X99 Motherboard, there are lots of changes between the two Chipset Platforms.

Same problem here. Brand new dark board and G3 1000w power supply. Can only power into the bios. All things show up correctly.

Replaced cmos battery even though it was showing 3 volts.

Which ram slots are for dual channel? The manual says 3 and 4 but that was just like my gigabyte gaming 3 and it would not run in dual channel. Ended up 2 and 4 or something.
