Just curious what kind of temps you guys are getting. I have the Geforce 1080 FTW DT and noticed when playing Youtube videos, the temps can get up in the 52c area. While idle, I'm around 34-38c.

I do have the thermal pad and VRM mod installed and I have the card in a very well ventilated case. Is it normal for the temps to spike that high while simply playing videos?

Hello, and welcome to the forums!
The card may run higher temperatures when watching videos. When you are watching videos do you notice that the clock speed increases for that card or does it remain at idle speeds?
For that model, when in the 50-55C range, the fans will likely remain off completely. When put under a gaming or benchmarking load, we would expect both fans to kick on and cool the card. Do you notice that both fans on the card are off when watching videos?
How hot does that card get when gaming?

...an untrammeled flow of words in an open forum.

yes, most video players and even browsers use GPU acceleration now, more so if it's 4k video.

Thanks for the replies. Gaming hit in the low 50s average with a max temp of 70C. Is that to be expected or decent temps? I upgrade my chassis, motherboard and CPU so I'm always paranoid on a new build.
