I have an Evga GeForce 980Ti Hybrid graphics card () and it worked smoothly for the past 3 years.

Starting yesterday, i'm having a weird problem with it. After some minutes of system uptime, the GPU temperature suddenly spikes to 90-91 Celsius degrees in the course of about 1 minute, and the fan ramps up to full speed. This happens quite sudden, there is no significant spike in GPU load to explain this, it happens even while not gaming. Worse, the coolers are unable to bring the temp down to 30-40C as it was before. Even if i restart the computer, the GPU is still not cooled, i have to wait until it cools down naturally. I replaced the thermal paste and cleaned the dust in the graphics board, without success. I don't think the sensors are wrong, because the board feels very hot when i touch it.

I am running the latest GeForce driver (397.31) on Windows 10 Pro x64.

What could cause this? Is it a hardware failure on the graphics board?

Sounds like the coolant pump failed..Contact EVGA and see about an RMA it if it's under warranty..If it's not under warranty, you can buy an aftermarket AIO (All-In-One) liquid cooler for it, but I wouldn't know which ones to suggest, maybe something from Kraken like the G12 bracket and a compatible AIO cooler of your choice.

* Corsair Obsidian 450D Mid-Tower - Airflow Edition * ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC) * Intel i7-8700K @ 5.0 GHz * 16GB G.SKILL Trident Z 4133MHz * Sabrent Rocket 1TB M.2 SSD * WD Black 500 GB HDD * Seasonic M12 II 750W * Corsair H115i Elite Capellix 280mm * EVGA GTX 760 SC * Win7 Home/Win10 Home *

Yes, i suspect so as well, the pump is the culprit. I will contact EVGA support about this to see if they confirm. The card is still under warranty. Thanks!

ya, seems like that about all there is to that  .   its down to a rma  and hope you get a decent replacement card  [not something like a 1060 air..lol... ] or find a cooler  aftermarket or ebay  stock type

there was a new 900 series pump just offered on ebay for like  120$ a week a go  .  I'm sure it went fast  at full price

ya its sold

just look for evga to leave you high and dry on your card  and look for getting the ''next best''  unless they got some referbs of it in to send out  . in there products there little to nothing offered for 900 series  new or b stock

some suggestions in here maybe ? theres a few more like it around if you look
