GeForce 441.87 Game Ready Driver

Top Issues and Updates:
-[Sniper elite 4/Shadow of the Tomb Raider]FPS is not capped at display refresh rate with VSYNC enabled in DirectX 12 mode[2719115]
-No Low Latency Mode setting on MSHybrid notebooks/PCs with SLI configuration: In the R440 branch, we fixed a bug that was incorrectly allowing NVIDIA Ultra Low Latency mode to be enabled for MSHybrid and SLI configurations. Even though the mode appeared to be enabled on these configurations, Ultra Low Latency mode was not actually engaged. R435 was considered a Beta and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused
-Devil May Cry V/RESIDENT EVIL 2 / BIOHAZARD RE:2 may appear darker during gameplay[2739410][2739471]
-[Windows7][World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth][DirectX 12]: The game crashes when switched from DirectX 11 to DirectX 12 mode. [200574934]
-Doom (2016) crashes when launched on GeForce 600/700 series (Kepler) GPUs [2791124] -Launching Battleye with NVIDIA Low Latency Mode set to Ultra may cause DWM to reset [2775906]

I was just about to put the 44.66 drivers in my rig on this past Sunday .... ... Glad I got distracted enough to forget .

Seems to always happen - I wait until a driver has proven itself to be decent , then install it & then a new driver pops up within a few days.... HA .

This is a DCH driver, not standard...does that matter?

ETA: got the non-DCH driver from guru3d, I only saw the DCH version on nvidia's site. They seem to work fine.

I installed the DCH version from the Geforce.com link. I only installed for the frame rate cap feature. I fired up Call of Duty Modern Warfare twice and both times it was a slide show with this option on. With it turned off, it works fine. I capped my frame rate to 162. In game I was getting 110 - 130 FPS (terrible compared to usual, which is actually over 165 FPS). Something is not working correctly with this feature.

No, it works with the non-DCH version also.

For VR enthusiast they introduced a new feature - Variable Rate Super Sampling (VRSS) , which sounds pretty interesting. It is only for Turing cards and currently only supported by Nvidia in around 20 games. Apparently each game has to be tested to work properly with it by Nvidia before having the feature available for the game.

I could see this  helping VR in the performance department. I don't believe I have any of the supported games at this time so can not check it out yet. I thought Asgard's Wrath might be one but I do not have the feature available for it so apparently not.
Hopefully they will keep adding more before too long.

Edit: From the 441.87 Release Notes:

Variable Rate Super Sampling (VRSS) is a new technique to improve image quality in VR games. It
uses NVIDIA Variable Rate Shading (VRS), a key feature in NVIDIA’s Turing architecture, to
dynamically apply up to 8x supersampling to the center of the VR headset display, where the eye is
typically focused. It intelligently applies supersampling only when GPU headroom is available in
order to maintain the VR headset’s fixed FPS and ensure a smooth VR experience. Enable the
feature for over 20 supported VR games from the NVIDIA Control Panel->Manage 3D Settings-
    >Variable Rate Super Sampling.

    Image Sharpening Improvements

Based on feedback from gamers, we’ve been enhancing the recently released Image Sharpening feature. With this latest version, you can now toggle GPU scaling independent of whether image sharpening is enabled or disabled. Access the feature from the NVIDIA Control Panel->Manage 3D Settings->Image Sharpening

    What does this even do?

And just a reminder, if you download the driver from the main driver page at Geforce or Nvidia you will get a DCH driver not Standard.
If you want a Standard driver you will have to get it from Beta and Older drivers.

Otherwise you will have to get the control panel from the baby games site microsoft store, and install it as an "app"
at least thats my understanding, as I won't download the DCH

EDIT, I'm wrong about that, the standard driver will be an outdated version of Nvidia control panel, looks like DCH is what we all need to download.
I'm still so confused about the difference and why they are seperate.

So yeah I guess it comes from windows store, this is stupid
"The NVIDIA DCH Display Driver will install the base display driver components but the hardware support apps (NVIDIA Control Panel) must be reinstalled from the Microsoft Windows Store manually. This should happen automatically without any user input. However, if the NVIDIA Control Panel is not installed during the installation of an NVIDIA DCH display driver, you may manually install it from the Microsoft Store be searching for “NVIDIA Control Panel”":

The NVCPL auto installs from the MS Store during the driver install is what I saw when updating to this driver.  I went from my previous Standard driver to the latest DCH driver.  No issue's here as of yet.

Yea it's just the fact that you have turn on Windows App Store now. Which a lot of people have disabled
There is no direct http download, it comes through the Windows Store App even when you install the driver.
    Just ridiculous.

This is the kind of crap I don't like.

*** Fixed - Just me being stupid.  The VRSS setting only appears on the specific "Program Settings" tab, not on the Global Settings Tab.  Also, the scan for installed games does NOT look in the Oculus software library (would guess just Steam), so did not detect my copy of RoboRecall.  I had to add it in manually.  Now to see if it makes any difference visually. ***

I've just installed 441.87 on my eVGA 2080ti Black.  Did a clean install after using DDU.  Control panel installed afterwards from MS Store.

I am not seeing VRSS option in NVIDIA control panel / Manage 3D settings.  Should be the last option in the scroll box.  It should be a supported card for this new feature.  Anyone else seeing / not seeing this option and if so what card are you using?

These drivers have been great so far. The only issue I have had, is that the frame rate cap does not work with Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Not that I would have kept it on anyway, as I don't play FPS games with any frame rate cap or sync going on. Even the driver side frame cap adds some lag, although less than other solutions.

Would this recent Driver have any affect on Usbuhci.sys?

The only changes to my computer has been the this latest driver and I've had two BSOD.

Shouldn't make any changes to the file, but the nvidia usbc driver could most likely call upon the file. See if uninstalling the nvidia usbc driver helps stop your issue.

I've look in Device Manager and File Explorer but haven't found this nvidia usbc driver.

Before I delete it though, what is it and what is its purpose?

    Thanks

If you can't find it, how can you delete it? If you are on Windows 10, I would go to "Apps and Features" and search for Nvidia. If you see the USB-C driver there, then you can uninstall it and restart your computer.

EDIT: Its purpose is so that you can use the USB-C port on the card as a display port. In other words, to send the signal to a USB-C display device.

Its purpose is to allow you to utilize devices that are plugged into the usb type-c port on your gpu.

My guess is that you probably weren't using that port for anything anyway. If you continue to have the issue, you might even just disable it in device manager. Which you can find under the "universal serial bus controllers" section. I would just try the driver uninstall first though. As a troubleshooting step, if that does not work, then I would disable it in device manager. If it works after trying to uninstall the driver, then it is more than likely the driver. If it does not work and then you disable it in device manager and it still does not work, I would suspect a faulty port.
