Well after reading forum after forum about 670's and 680's and 2gb vs 4gb and all that, I just got tired of gaming on my under powered 560's and bought two 670's 2gb on Amazon. These will be used for 5760x1080 gaming on BF3, D3, Skyrim, and whatever else is awesome that I cant think of.

Lots of ppl here have done testing with similar setups and conclude that 5760x1080 is possible and you can get good FPS and vram usage. I fine with using 2-4xaa and not 8xmsaa or whatever.

Now Just have to do research on water blocks for them. EK should have something soon it looks like. already have a 800D to put it all in. just need to order another 240 Rad and better hoses. will do that after this post.

Sounds like it suits your needs, whatever game it may be. Pizazz isn't always important. :)

Bitspower is tried and true. There is a new company that includes a tightening wrench for their new compression fitting design, looked very nice and well made. I can't recall the name

Also just to note, GTX 680 waterblocks WILL fit GTX 670 cards.

So you can get any EK 680 block, etc blocks and they'll fit a GTX 670.

So just Ran 3DMark 11 and my P score was in the high 12k range. Old score was 8k. pretty happy about that.

Also did some quick BF runs.

This is BF3 on 1920x1080 with EVERYTHING at Ultra preset, 4msaa jsut everything.. AWESOME

And here is 5760x1080 Ultra preset again but this time 2msaa is the only change. Also Windows 7 Aero and everything is off. Not hitting 2GB at all. Very happy Now to try Skyrim!

Ok so I ran some skyrim on 5760x1080 and using Ultra and FXAA, prety much just clicking everything I can think of to turn on. Also I have alot of texture mods on and water too.

I cant figure out how to take a screen shot with FPS OSD so I will just tell you the VRAM did go up to 1997 and some times a bit 2020, but FPS was around 50-60. Very smooth very playable. Now I can play skyrim with everything and not worry about fps dropping. So happy. Thank you EVGA and NVIDIA!!

correct. the ftw 670 are longer and are a 680 PCB. EK is making the 670 vanilla ones now.

Man I have a ton of mods on skyrim, when i had a 3gb card I was seeing 2200+vram usage at just 1920X1080 with 4XAA.

The 680 seems to handle it fine although it does seem to pause once in a blue moon I guess because of memory swap or something.

It is important to note that this is only true for GTX 670 models that use a reference GTX 680 PCB, NOT the reference GTX 670 PCB. That means that 680 blocks will not work on the GTX 670 or GTX 670 SC from EVGA and will only work with the GTX 670 FTW edition.

Didn't mean to harp on you. I just wanted to make sure other readers were clear so they didn't go picking up reference 670's and order in 680 blocks for them

I wonder if the gtx 670 4 GB edition will have the same PCB as the 2 GB edition.
so we don't have to wait another 1 - 2 months for the waterblock to emerge.

Yes the 4GB GTX670 is the exact same as the GTX670 SC, the only company so far that will be producing a Full PCB GTX 670 4gb is Zotac.

What happens if you do 4msaa on the 5760x1080? Does it hit the Vram limit?

You know, I didnt even try 4x, 2x already looked so good, I mean i was playing on medium settings and now to play on ultra, WOW, just WOW, Lighting and glare are in your face awesome. it really looks like your character is wearing goggles.

Now if only there was a game that would use USB attached to shockers that when you get shot you feel some pain. might make the spray and prey play style less likely to happen. You would really want to use cover and avoid fire,

So just Ran 3DMark 11 and my P score was in the high 12k range. Old score was 8k. pretty happy about that.

Also did some quick BF runs.

Would you be awesome and post the VRAM usage for Skyrim at 1920x1080 with everything tapped out? I'm caught on the fence with wanting to be able to go crazy with AA and everything but being a bit scared I'll eat up the full 2GB of VRAM and get slow downs.

I'd love to see what Skyrim looks like with all your mods and settings maxed on a single screen :)

EDIT:  Screw it nevermind. I ALSO got tired of waiting and just ordered two 670 FTW's from newegg. I'm sure it will beat any game like it stole something at 1920x1080. On a side note will my 850W PSU(in my sig) handle two of these cards?

Usage of BF3 with EVERYTHING I mean EVERYTHING turned on and Ultra 4msaa, you name it i tuned it on. it dont get better than this!
5760x1080  latest beta drivers to date. Aero Turned off.

So glad I didn't wait for 4gb cards. These are plenty. you will for sure need 3 or more cards to go over 60fps at this resolution.
