This has been known about for years in the industry.  It basically affects maybe .02% of systems, if that.  Read the details of the regulations that the different states have enacted and you'll realize that the requirements are already being done and have been for years.  There are so many exceptions for things, e.g. multiple PCIe slots, that it really has no impact except for a few systems in several companies.

Other than the knee jerk hysteria that the "news" click bait started, this has not had and probably won't have any impact on us at all.

Hmm, back with another video looking into the facts and it turns out, the whole “gaming PCs are getting banned” was a lie. Weird that these click bait sites keep producing clickbait to get clicks and find their ad revenue.

Nothing weird about it - mainstream media have been doing this for years.

They really have gotten out of control haven't they?

In sweltering heat, can a gamer leave without an air conditioner? No.

In sweltering heat, can the energy efficiency of a computer in a sleep state be lowered with an efficient power supply, yes.

You are comparing apples and oranges, and completely ignoring the fact that air conditioners are regulated and come with energy efficiency ratings as well, so not only are you comparing two completely incomparable items, you are being ignorant in your argument because you want to make a really invalid and inept point.

The regulations you are whining about aren’t on old computers and they aren’t on old appliances, they are in brand new equipment, which is regulated in both aspects, so consider that rather than babbling about something you don’t comprehend.

The “ancient appliances” facts are completely wasteful since “ancient computers” aren’t being sold either, so maybe research before typing.

Before I respond to your comments in your post, first going to ask you to chill out. We're (generally) adults on the internet posting about things, no need for you to have some bizarre tirade where try to put people down as if you are something more than anyone else.

A window air conditioner is most often going to use more energy when compared to a whole home unit when factoring size and time of run. You can have less square footage or not want to cool a space beyond the immediate vicinity of the room, but that isn't practically reflective of the comfortable lifestyles most people seek (actual use). The small unit will typically be much more inefficient by design. A typical window unit in a low-to-moderate income apartment that was built before, say, the 80's, aka: anything but heavily subsidized condos/complexes or in a far end cost of living area, will be maintained and replaced with an in-kind unit that shouldn't actually pass for air conditioning. Those units are unfortunately common.
