May also want to note that in the v7 install it has a place checked to start v7 after the install is done, that should be unchecked before clicking finish or be sure to already have the NIC disabled before clicking finish.
That or you can pick the manual start on the 1st set of option you see in v7 install.
Then V7 can be open, but will not auto start until you manually start it.
This would give you the time needed to unplug or disable the NIC.
Then you can config as needed, enable the NIC, then manual start V7.

Finished up the two "first" work units on the V7 client.  Now running two Beta 8057 units - estimated PPD is 310,600 PPD (on two 580 SC at 900).  Might be a bit higher, but I also have an SMP running around 10,000 PPD.  Cards are also running on the cool side (19C - which is also about the ambient temp in my office).  I like this!

Hi, so I followed your instructions, and my GPUs won't fold at all. I put in the old core in both folders, and the log tells me that:

02:25:36:WARNING:WU03:FS02:FahCore returned an unknown error code which probably indicates that it crashed02:25:36:WARNING:WU03:FS02:FahCore returned: UNKNOWN_ENUM (-1 = 0xffffffff)

I have two 570s on 306.97.

Locate the project info of the work unit its working. Its possible it picked up a 76xx WU with will not fold with core 2.22.
But normally it will auto update the core to the correct one witch is 2.25 for projects 76xx.

when you say you put them into both folders?
there is only one under Nvidia.....
Explain a little more sir

Actually there can be two folders under the Nvidia/Fermi/ folder, beta folder & core_15.fah folder.
Inside the beta folder is another folder named core_15.fah as well witch contains the FahCore_15.exe
Edit: fixed pictures so you can see the path better

Re:Helping Getting You QRB-Ready - This Weekend Only! 2012/11/17 19:14:38 (permalink)
I'm brand new to the FAHControl v7.. I believe I've locked myself out of the client twice, trying to setup remote control. Probably reinstall about 6 times. My current problem is one slot / work queue is locked up in "Update_Core" mode with a P7626 WU. I had replace my cores with the v2.22 version, but it doesn't appear to download the v2.25 version. I've paused the slots and manual put the v2.25 in the Non-Beta directory. Still no luck.

Any thoughts to a fix?

The logging is overly complex, but here it is.

Ok, I may be a bit early on this question, but a question on the PPD.  I followed all of the instructions and have gone through two beta units (now on a third).  The first two finished up about 30 min before the EOC/Stanford stats update.  I should have had around 40,000 points, yes?  My stats only show 6300.  I have my passkey - is there anything I am missing?  I'm not going to wait around (up) for the next 2 1/2 hours to see if it's just timing - I'll check in the morning to make sure.  But, if there is anything else other than the passkey needed, I'm interested to know.

Edit: @ bowlinra
Delete the problem slot & start from scratch, would be my best suggestion.

Edit @ bob
It will show up at the next update,
sometime it just doesn't get in quick enough to show up at the next or the stats server is backlogged.

If you don't get the bonus points on the next update, are you qualified for the bonus at this point? I only ask because I don't know when you started folding with the passkey..

Bonus point formula
Briefly summarizing our bonus formula, the bonus is applied for users who have a passkey, have successfully returned at least 10 bonus-eligible WU's, successfully return >=80% of assigned WU's, and return the WU before the Timeout (formerly Preferred Deadline). Bonus points do not apply to partial returns.

You can also go to the location you chose to install the "data" folder for v7, open the config.xml and add

<pause-on-start v="true"/>

within the <config> section before you start FAHcontrol for the first time.  I leave it that way so I can initially configure slots and choose which slots to fold without any starting automatically.

Great post, I had had heard about this from texinga, but forgot since I haven't actually use it.
If you could make a screen shot with it added to the correct spot & post it will help others understand better.
I'm sure Sleinous will gather all this info and add it to the opening post to make it much easier for all so
others will not have to search threw the thread for additional info. Cheers!

Edit: Here: I used notepad to edit it in, here is a screen shot of how it would look.

When using the above <pause-on-start v="true"/> in the config.xml when opening v7 you now see a screen that looks like this:
On this screen you will now click on Configure, top left, a screen like this will appear, see image #2
#1
Here you will click the start outlined in red then save, witch bring you to image #3
#2

At the 3rd stage you can click Fold at the top to start all slots or pick the one you wish to start in the
Folding Slot section, by right clicking to just start one at a time. See image #4
#3
or pick the one you wish to start in the Folding Slot section, by right clicking to just start the appropriate slot.
#4
If I missed anything please let me know so I can adjust with correction or add on.

Edit in: a important step that can shorten your v7 load time!
Skips doing some of the steps above once you have everything set.

Opolis
When using pause-on-start in config.xml, if you check the Autostart box under Preferences -> Local Client you can skip the step of having to go to Configure and click start each time you run FAHcontrol.  The slots will still remain paused until you tell them to fold.

To be honest, I learned v7 pretty quick thanks to the stanford guide and my buddy wrinvert on teamspeak.  Here is another useful link for those finally giving up v6 (like myself).  It lists the command line and config differences between the two.

Yea this link was posted by texinga in another thread. That's the part we need to get fixed.
So much good info is scattered or hidden in other threads. This looks like the thread that should be use for catch all since its off to a great start.

Just waking up so will add all of this useful info in in a bit, could we maybe upload those screenshots to photobucket to bypass the EVGA attachment issue?

Sorry I don't have a photobucket account plus I never liked photobucket as a host.
The host I was using seems to have going down for good, what a shame to lost
all kind of picture & just as many dead links spread everywhere on different forums to those.
Maybe someone else can host them there for you?

Don't worry about it TW :) I'll do it now. Thanks for the screenies and help!!

Thanks for the blue ribbon, you didn't really have to, but it does feel good to get.
Adding a thanks button to the forum would be a great addition & would be enough for me.

Father Christmas please consider me for one of those nice shiny 560TI's you
have in your big bag of goodies this christmas.
It would make a great addition to the EVGA folding team & the pull to take back there rightful #1 spot.
Christmas in November would be even nicer for that drive back to #1.
