i saw something just like that when i got my 8800gtx years ago, splinter cell:double agent had the same graphical problems, thought it was the card but turned out to be a driver issue. After an update the problems went away. Might not be your problem here, but have you tried re-installing drivers and/or the game itself?

Yes sir. Completely fresh install of drivers. Uninstalled everything in control panel, then ran driver sweeper in safemode, then reinstalled 270.61. Still having crazy glitch problems.

Is BF the only game that does that? Did it just start or has it always been that way?

Nope, BFBC2 is not the only game it does it in. Brink, COD Black Ops, L4D had some small issues. I have video of those too. And it started happening about 2-3 weeks after installing the card. What has changed? Nothing. I attempted some low overclocks on the card, but never raising the voltage. I couldn't get anything over stock to be stable though, running Heaven would crash but EVGA OC scanner wouldn't find any problems.

if all games are like that, then the card is defective. It's time for RMA!

Yay! I'm so glad I spent the $30 for the advanced warranty thing with the cross ship option. Before I do that, anyone else have anything to try? Anyone think a driver update to the next ones will fix it and I should just wait? Or should I just start the RMA process and say screw it, this card is bad?

Lower the clock speed to stock GTX 590 of 607 MHz, its not ideal but I am in communication with Jacob about a glitch in the BIOS with GPU2 being a small 13mV too low over GPU1. Secondly, if you are using the latest SLI Enhancement + 270.61, on a fresh reboot my clocks are getting pushed to 700 MHz instead of the stock 630 MHz (no overclock being applied at startup.) Crazy I know, just check to see if yours are doing this. While its nice to see the "stock" numbers, it could easily be causing what you are seeing if you don't have a voltage increase. Lastly, I have heard people having tons of issues for all 5xx users including the 590 users with 270.61 drivers. Downgrade to 270.51 and see if you have the issue. If you still do, try switching drivers for 268.85 or was it 267.85, this gives you voltage control and then just increase the voltage to 0.925 in Afterburner and click apply. This will force both GPUs to use 0.925v. If you have GPU-z you can check the different voltages on the sensor tab really easy by switching between each GTX 590 (each one is a different GPU.) GPU2 should be slightly lower on the voltage, and it IS enough to cause the artifacting / GDDR5 memory errors (thats the stretching textures you are seeing.) If none of that is helpful, I would recommend an RMA at this point.

Well, none of that worked. I tried lowering the clock speeds to 600/1700 and still had problems. I tried a clean install of the 267.91 drivers with no luck. In fact, 267.91, 600mhz core, and the game didn't just glitch, but it caused a BSOD. Voltages were at .912 and .925, but that should still be enough to handle 600mhz. And there is no way in hell that I'm gonna keep a card that can't even do it's stock clocks at it's stock voltage. I guess it's time to start the RMA process. Ughn, I hate doing this, it will require a complete drain of the WCing system which is time consuming and tedious.

I was trying to get you to use 267.85 because it still has voltage adjustment options. I have one GPU that also does 0.912v and it causes the artifacting and errors, so I force both GPUs to 0.925v with the 267.85. Like I said its enough to cause errors but since you underclocked it may still be a physical hardware problem. Before you RMA it, it is worth a try to set everything to stock on 267.85 and try setting the votlages to 0.925v. If it still doesn't work right then yes RMA it unfortunately.

Sorry didn't elaborate, was think that with all the components and the new addition of the 590 the PSU is possibly overtaxed? And gradually it's been degrading over the past few weeks.

Ragingcain, the 267.85 drivers aren't hosted on Nvidia's website anymore, if you have a copy then send em my way and I'll try them out. Nister969, it's a possibility that the PSU is fading, but I don't have another AX1200 to test in the system. If an RMAed 590 doesn't work then that will be the next RMA for me to process.

make sure u test the following before you ask for RMA from eVGA: 1) test the gtx 590 in a different PC and see if the problem still occurs. 2) test your current PC with a different Video Card and see if the problem goes away. Last year when I tried to RMA my GTX 480, eVGA asked me those 2 things before giving me the RMA number. As long as the problem still occurs only and only when you are using that GTX 590, then it's really a defective card.

Well, a bit of an update. I tried to install those 267.85 drivers, but it would get to the installing graphics drivers part, the screen would go blank (normal) but it never came back (not normal). Windows was still responding because I could use the keyboard to shutdown the computer...which I did. I tried it again but no luck. So I just reinstalled the 270.61 drivers. On the reboot of the 270.61 drivers, I decided I'd give the PSU thing a swing. So I had a spare 700W Thermaltake laying around, I jumped pin 4 and 6, connected it to the GTX590 only and left the AX1200 connected to the mobo and everything else. On boot everything worked flawlessly! Not being entirely sure if that was the case, I shutdown and reconnected everything how it was before, all on the AX1200. Booted it up...and everything still works flawlessly... I'm kinda stumped as to what the problem is/was. Should I still be worried that something is wrong with the card? Should I assume that it was somehow a bad driver install even though I did a clean install the first time and it didn't fix it? Could it still be the PSU even though it's running fine now under full load? Argh.

Alright, so another strange thing...I ran 3dMark 11 and it said it wouldn't publish my results because the 267.85 drivers I was using weren't approved. But when I look at the Nvidia control panel and MSI afterburner, they both agree that I have the 270.61 drivers installed. Which I should because those were the last ones I installed. What the crap?

It sounds like you have a few drivers installed simultaneously from what you described. I recommend doing a CUSTOM install and then using the "Clean" option to re-install the 267.85. If the screen goes blank leave it running for less than 5 minutes, computer should reboot and continue installing. This is atypical of downgrading these new drivers. If it goes longer, or stops blinking and looks frozen (no HDD activity) reboot, and immediately restart the installation manually, doing a Custom installation again, ticking the CLEAN option box. Should have no issues the second time around.
If you shut down the computer in the middle of the uninstallation, you will have driver issues. If you still have ANY problems trying it again with a clean-install, then do another clean install with driversweeper is your next option.
I don't understand what you plugged in the into the GTX 590... you have two 6+2 PCI-E pins in both 8 pin sockets correct? An AX1200 should be enough to power one GTX 590, if it is working now, I would suggest you had a loose power connector. Did 3DMark11 have any problems while running? Glitches/Artifacts etc?

I plugged the 2 8pin PCIE power cables from the 700w Thermaltake into the 590. I left everything else connected to the AX1200. An AX1200 should be enough to power one GTX 590, if it is working now, I would suggest you had a loose power connector. Did 3DMark11 have any problems while running? Glitches/Artifacts etc? Agreed, it should be able to handle this stuff. And it does. I might go with the loose power cable too. Although, after installing the 270.61's on my other machine (Dual Xeon E5620's and a GTX580HC2 with a 1000w Toughpower) I started getting the same weird glitches after a while. I'm currently in the process of trying to figure that out, and after all this I might just try the PCIE connections and make sure they are all ok.
