Hey guys long time no post, I'll try to keep this as simple as possible. (I posted this in the 900 series section however a mod can move it to general discussion if it doesn't belong here?)

I have two 980's in SLI using an Asus 144Hz monitor connected by Displayport. I want to split the signal to an HDMI capture card with minimal to no loss. Now a few questions are,
Would I be better off cloning my monitor to the cap card and using HDMI from the 980's to the cap card (although I would lose SLI support or performance correct?) and would audio still be carried even if I'm using my PC speakers?

Or my second and possibly preferred option is to use splitters, my idea is to use the 200-DP-1301-L1 (just Google if not familiar) split one port from that to this CLUB3D CAC-1070 and run an HDMI cable from that to the capture card if that is possible?

If anybody has any other suggestions feel free to post them as I may not be thinking clearly.. been up 27 hours lol.

Thanks for the help guys

Why do you need to split to an HDMI capture card? Do you already have the HDMI capture card? Because if not I would not suggest going that way.

You could do something like this most likely but it's not ideal: https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/36obz8/144hz_monitor_display_port_60hz_limited_capture/

Your PC is plenty powerful enough to do software capture though, and that gets you much more flexibility. All the HDMI capture devices I know of are designed for HDMI passthrough, where they sit in line between your GPU output and the monitor input, thus limiting you to 1080p and 60 Hz.

Yeah I already have the capture card(s). I used to like using Dxtory for capturing (I don't care about file size only quality) however the FPS drop gets a little annoying. And I would use the capture card in a second PC of course. Both cards only have an HDMI in they won't do passthrough which wouldn't work anyways as I'm using Displayport also I don't plan on the capturing system to even have a monitor attached for the most part only a keyboard for the capture keys etc.

    Bump?

Also.. @ any EVGA rep.. will the 200-DP-1301-L1 actually split a displayport signal or no?

Not an EVGA rep but no, it will not split. It's a hub not a splitter.

Hmm alright I guess I'm out of luck other than what you suggested which may or may not work for me either. I might end up having to clone my monitor or possibly switch to HDMI

I don't mean to keep bumping the thread but I was wondering.. my monitor isn't a G-Sync monitor.. would splitting the DVI signal from my GPU work? My capture card can do DVI-I so it should be able to carry audio as well?

That will work if the capture card can accept a 144 Hz input.

It's worth a shot. I shouldn't need any kind of active splitters right? Just a normal dual link splitter?

    Yup, it's all passive.
