I have a GTX 980 Hybrid. The coolant tube became disconnected and the coolant leaked out.
What likely happened next is that the card overheated due to lack of cooling and became damaged.
The card is insured by a 3rd party, but they do not cover "water damage" (as in "dropped it in the pool" or "spilled water on it").
So far, I have not had a good experience in having them repair the card. They are behaving as if there was a "water accident" instead of an overheating failure.
What might help me is a more detailed explanation of the cooling system that I could forward on to the 3rd party.
If someone from EVGA could explain what type of coolant is in the system, and if there a name other than "water" that I could say to them, I think it would help my case.
From what I saw, the coolant was not clear, it was a light yellow/brown color, like new motor oil.
If the coolant leaked out and hit the electronics on the card (there is residue on the plastic housing and pcb), could it have damaged the card (or is the coolant a safe dielectric/noncorrosive/etc) ?
I expect EVGA would have put a safe coolant in the card, in case of leaks.
