Ever since I installed the GTX 950 I get NO SOUND from the onboard sound (RealTek) nor an add-in Creative Labs Audigy 4.
I don't game, so I bought the GTX 950 for the multiple monitor support and non-gaming performance.
Pretty much tried everything:
- Installed legacy RealTek drivers
- Removed NVidia drivers and installed drivers cleanly (ONLY the video drivers, no HDMI, Physix, etc.)
- Disabled the HMDI Audio in the Device Manager
- Absolutely clean install on Windows 7 Pro (64) - No sound right from the beginning

System:
- MSI 790FX-GD70 (onboard RealTek Audio)
- Creative Labs Audigy 4 PCI (disabled on-board audio)
- 12 GB RAM
- 4 monitors

Even though I don't game, I would really like to get my audio back! Music and Youtube are just NOT the same!

Have you tried a clean install with the Creative Labs sound card removed?

If you take the gtx 950 out and put in a older graphics card the sound works just fine?

rjohnson, yes. On this latest clean install, all I had in was the GTX, a USB 3 card, and the mainboard "stuff" (to include the onboard sound.)
I got absolutely no sound during any part of the install. In fact, the onboard sound does not even show speakers plugged in.
I shut the system down, disabled the onboard sound, and installed the Audigy. The system found the Audigy and loaded the drivers, but still no sound (even though the speakers showed up under the Volume). When I attempt to play any sound, you can see there is output (volume bars in the volume control, but nothing reaches the speakers.

What motherboard is being used and does it have the latest BIOs?

rjohnson, it is an MSI 790FX-GD70 with the latest BIOS available and an AMD Phenom X4 965 CPU. An older board, but meets the needs of this work system.

Does your BIOs have a legacy mode for the video card and if so have you tried that?

You don't mention checking the Sound Properties; several times I've seen the default sound device change from what it is supposed to be to a monitor connected to the GPU after the driver is installed, even if the NVIDIA HD Audio driver isn't installed. Right click the speaker icon, and then choose Playback Devices, and make sure your speakers are the default device.

And, with what you said, you should only install the video drivers and the physx drivers (I dont know why, but these seem to be needed on systems even if you dont game).
Do NOT install the Nvidia sound anything, or any hdmi sound from nvidia, , or anything else, except video and physx drivers.

After that, go into Device Manager (make sure View > Hidden Devices is checked), and disable any nvidia sound in there (like the 'Other Devices' Nvidia Virtual Audio Device, Sound Video and Game Controllers (anything that is Nvidia related, dont remove your normal sound card stuff. Take a screenshot before installing video  drivers to compare if you need to), Audio and Video Inputs and Outputs (again, anything nvidia sound releated).

I would actually uninstall the sound card (or disable onboard sound via bios if thats what you are using), and all of its drivers and devices first, reboot, let the computer check for stuff (you can go into Device Manager, click on the top entry, and select Search for New Devices to make it faster), shut the system down. Install the video card drivers, reboot, and do the device manager stuff above, shut down, then put in the sound card (or enable onboard sound if thats what you are using). Boot up. Install the ORIGINAL drivers of the sound card, reboot, check for any changes in Device Manager again, to make sure any nvidia hasent been turned on by accident by the os, and start updating the sound drivers one by one (unless you want to stick with the regular drivers, and they are working correctly), while rebooting in-between the sound card (or onboard if thats what you are using) drivers. I know rebooting that much sucks, but it really does help in some of these weird situations.

If you have Win 8/8.1/10, turn off the OS to automatically install drivers first, before doing any of the above. (you should do this all the time, because windows always messes up the driver installs).

That should fix the problem for you.

exactly, the one thing people always for get to check, by default (if there is a way to change the default please share) when you plug in the monitor or even change the input selection on the monitor windows will default to the HD audio to the monitor, drives me crazy every time since i have multiple systems connected to my monitor inputs.
