Hello, a few days ago (Saturday) I just loss all fan control to my graphics card (EVGA GTX 950 SSC). It was working perfectly fine when I left that morning to do something and around noon when I came back I turned on my pc, turned on EVGA Precision XOC and instantly one of the two fans went full speed and the other just wasn't on the fan rpm was showing 0rpm. Now I thought well maybe it was the geforce drive as I had just updated and so I reverted and still same problem. Even after I decided to pick a random old version of the driver from about a year ago the same problem persists. So I tried another overclocking software MSI and still the same thing. Is there anyway for me to fix this issue easily or would it require me to send it in? I can use my pc normally but as soon as any sort of graphics card overclocking or fan monitoring system opens up one fan goes to 100.

As an easy list of everything I have tried to do to fix it I will leave it here for less confusion.
  • Revert NVIDIA driver to before this happened
  • Revert to around a year old NVIDIA driver
  • Remove GPU and clean fans, fan connector, ect.
  • Reinstall Precision XOC and tried MSI Afterburner

This only occurs when opening precision xoc, or msi afterburner? Does the card work normally when playing games?

Just tested it by launching Layers of Fear and walking around. The game normally hits about 60c so I thought it would be a good test. After about one minute in game the fan that goes max speed start to head up to max speed and the other fan would rotate a few times then kick off. Then rotate and kick off. And this was without any software running that would affect anything fan related.

Also if you were asking if it occurred on only precision XOC or MSI Afterburner it occurs on both.

Sounds like you'll need to rma the card if it's still under warranty.

Well thank you for your help. I've been needing an excuse to get a new graphics card so I suppose this would be it.

I know it's a bit after this post but I just had one of those ideas that sounds great in theory but is probably really moronic. Since it appears that the 950 fan uses a normal 4 pin connector. Is t here any possibility that if I can find a 4 pin extender I could just connect it to one of my system fan slots and control it there?

Sure..Just search around for a '4 Pin Mini GPU to 4 Pin Fan Adapter' like this one that you can use to connect graphics card fans to a motherboard header..Motherboard headers can't be controlled by GPU temperature, so software like SpeedFan may work..Or you can buy an el cheapo fan controller that fits in a drive bay or wherever..You can buy cable extensions too if you need longer..Search around and you'll find tons of all those things.
