Hope someone can help.

I built my Win 7 system about 6 years ago and recently after I upgraded to Win 10 the new nvidia driver updates will freeze my PC and I have to use system restore to roll back to the last stable driver-388.13.

I was going to hold off buying new video card until I built a new z390 box, but will go ahead and put a new card in if it will solve my problem.

Thanks,

    Latest version (1909) of Win10?

Tried DDU in Safe Mode to uninstall the current graphics driver before installing the latest version 441.41 for Win10 64-bit running a GTX 660?

pull the network connection - So, Windows does Not try to override / install a different version at the same time

Did you do a Total New Install on a clean drine - Or - upgrate your OS when moving from Win 7 to Win 10 ?

Not sure which version, it just says Windows 10 Home, I'm running 64 bit.  I got it for free on the Windows site 3 mths ago.

I tried safe mode uninstalling and reinstalling the latest driver but it still freezes.  The only driver that is stable is the 388.13

Cool- No I did an upgrade over my old Win 7.

And I had the same problem with Win 7 nvidia driver updates, but I was able to go into automatic updates and delete future video driver updates.

I can't seem to do that with Win 10, all it lets me do is pause the update for 1-3 weeks.

Sounds like you Mixing your Windows Driver Type

"Standard" packages are those that do not require the DCH driver components.

"DCH" (Declarative, Componentized, Hardware Support Apps) refers to new packages preinstalled by OEMS implementing the Microsoft Universal Driver paradigm.

DCH drivers cannot be installed over a standard system, and Standard drivers cannot be installed over a DCH system.

To confirm the type of system you have, locate Driver Type under the System Information menu in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

You need to update Windows to the latest version..That's step 1..It's a fairly automated process, no biggie.
