I had GTX 1080 Classified and just upgrade to a GTX 1080 Ti FTW3.

Before removing the GTX 1080, I used DDU to clean driver and restart the system for GPU change.
I swap the GPUs, everything going ok so far... then installed NVidia latest driver, 384.94, after about 20min, sound of plugin a new device came and the PC freezed, I restared didn't get into Login screen (Win10) did again many times until get Safe Mode, I cleaned the drivers again.

Figured out that, if I uninstall the Intel Graphics Driver my PC runs ok, but then Win10 forces to install it, I tried to download directly from Intel website, but same issue. Now I'm having to Disable the "Microsoft generic adapter" (how windows 10 calls it before becoming Intel Graphics.

What is super weird is that I never had this issue before, first time I'm having it is with the GTX 1080 Ti.

Please any recommendation? Fix?

My rig is: 3770k + Sabertooth Z77, GTX 1080 Ti FTW3.

Welcome to the forums..If you haven't already, I would go into the BIOS -> Advanced -> System Agent Configuration section and change the Primary Display from [Auto] to [PEG], save and reboot and see how it rolls..Setting it to PEG (PCI Express Graphics) will disable any onboard (the Processor's iGPU) graphics and Windows consequently shouldn't even load or install the Intel Graphics driver..Try that.

Thanks for the quick answer, I already did it, my motherboard shows this as priority.

What I found is a cab file to disable it, Windows 10 overwrites the setting on device manager every time you reboot the system, I'm hoping it will work.

Do you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard? When you install a dedicated GPU, by default the system is supposed to disable the iGPU which it did with your 1080. For some reason, this isn't happening with the 1080 Ti. Some have related it to memory. As a test, have you tried booting with just one stick of memory installed? Also, test running the system at stock clocks if you are overclocking.

    The problem still happening here.

Yes I'm using the latest BIOS and I don't have any issue with my memory, tried that but it's just happened when I swapped the video cards from the GTX 1080 Classified to the GTX 1080 Ti FTW3.

Never had this issue before and since I have this CPU + Mobo + Memory I had: GTX 680, GTX 780, GTX 980, GTX Titan X, GTX 1080 and now the GTX 1080 Ti this is the very first time it's happening.

Problem solved, it was a CMOS issue, I cleared my CMOS and now it's working again perfectly!
