nVidia MSRP is still constant, isn't it, so only retailers are raising prices?

MSRP doesn't change, and most retailers are probably still selling for the suggested price. Most of the high prices you see on sites like Amazon and Newegg are marketplace sellers, who are not constrained on the price.

Not true for Newegg, their own "native" prices have been climbing - though not AS much as some of the marketplace sites. Problem is that NewEgg is spending a LOT of time almost complete out of ANYTHING in a GTX 1070 the last week or so - it's getting almost as bad as the high-end RX series. I've also noticed that GTX 1060 prices are starting to climb, and availability starting to drop.
Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding. I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

I agree, I have seen several videos on you tube with miners spending 10k or more. Showing off their rig, then you see the surrounding house and what it looks like. I'm thinking your spending your money on the wrong thing buddy.

Not silly if you played it right. I'm about to buy a mess of acerage with my bitcoins I mined several years ago when it was fairly new. Get in on the ground floor and these currencies whether stupid or not can make you a lot of money.

In my case, most of my current folding hardware and ALL of my current BOINC hardware was paid for by cryptocoin mining, plus cryptocoin mining has been my entire income for about a year now AND it paid a large chunk of my "Iowa to Washington State" moving costs last summer. It's NOT a "few bucks" in most cases, it's "a few bucks per day PER CARD" at profitability levels of the last 3 months or so if using any of the cards that are the most popular for mining, and even 7-8 months ago when profitability was at it's lowest point for many cryptocoins in about 2 years it was tens of bucks per card per month for those same cards. At least a few folks HAVE gotten rich out of cryptocoin mining - but most of them were very early adopters, or had a fair chunk of money already to throw into it, or were able to get "backing" of some sort early on.
Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding. I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.
