Because for me, it is about buying a 2000 dollar card and not having to compromise any visual eye candy for performance. Even it being about interest. duel 4090's SLI is dead sadly so no 8k gaming on duel 4090's. For a workstation that setup is nuts.

Then you don't know Jay man, he will make anything work even in games he can always get it working, not made for it, then mod it til it does work that is his mind set. he always wants 2 CPU's and 2 GPU's used to be 4 GPU's yes he also ran Quad TITAN V's got Multi GPU working in many games was it a pain of course but it was a worthy challenge, why he does these things he just loves doing these builds making the impossible or the unthinkable possible. It's always been his goal and I find it nice he shares such things with us, these are not your everyday 1CPU/1GPU setups, everything is multiplied on Jay's end, it's been like that since I met him in may of 2001. He also does this because he can, there is not one limit that will stop his desires and frams that will stop him from doing what he wants or wants to change, he'll always manage and he will make it happen. Quad RTX 4090's would of been his ultimate dream, but due to the sheer size of the things that didn't work out, I would simply custom loop with with the best EK Water blocks, by making them single slot and then it could of worked. The problem is that Jay exchanges the GPU's every time something new pops up, so water blocks isn't really going to help, because these too change, it would only be ideal for 4 Way GPU setups as his purpose would go, if he'd plan to use that for long term use. A Dual 96 core /192 thread EPYC Geno 9654's seem to be the best currently, until the 128 core / 256 Thread Bergamo CPU's arrive, yea more cores is more fun. Something like that is what I'd go for; if going in to a direction like this, these destroy anything Intel has to offer. The EPYC 9654 is also a nice one to choose, as seen here: You can make it as crazy as you want, which is the fun part, as long you can afford it you'll have a very nice variety of choices.

killer air cooled work station, nice clean build with the low temps achieved, with quiet fans, OP has no real reason to go custom loop

I would not even want to try to code the custom drivers tbh. Would rather gouge my own eyes out. Yes a custom job it can be done, out of the box not so much.

Oh I know that, although he'd only would need to do that if going 4-Way RTX 4090, by making the cards single slot with EK Water blocks, that is what I was referring to really xD Just as a hypothetical theory that can work, just making the cards communicating together is always the challenge, even so the method he used for 2 units should work with 4 just the same. And getting setups like this even working is already the challenge it's self, Jay always gets things done, there was never one day Jay didn't get something working, great guy

Congrats on your GravityMark high achievement, Maestro I've got spot #4 on 4 million asteriods with RayTracing rasterization . All else at default . Three guys with single 4090 cards beat me :( When you get bored, you should go over there and dust those guys :) Too The Moon !

Left alone in the Ice Age even being :) Yea Jay & I go way back since 2001, he's an old friend of mine, it's nice to still seeing him making these insane builds, it's always been his label in that sense to build the latest and greatest fully maxed out. Jay & I met at 2CPU.com when I joined on May 08, 2001, roughly 22 years ago now, time has surely moved along.

I am curious how Minecraft RTX does and Quake II RTX, since these seem to take Ray Tracing workloads to high levels, always curious to such things, maybe Dual RTX 4090's could simulate how a Blackwell GPU could perform to a certain extent. Interesting research, keeping inmind that the RTX 4090 is not even the full AD102 die rofl

Dual GPUs aren't going to make a lot of difference since most gaming developers have removed multi-GPU support (such as SLI).
