Try reinstalling the drivers.
Windows update has been screwing with the drivers and then folding has errors.
Worth a try.

So am I right in thinking that we here are Folding for the benefit to science whereas the guys at CureCoin are doing it for money (essentially).

Don't get me wrong I like that I get EVGA Bucks back for Folding but got to over 100m before I even realised EVGA did it.

Case: Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX
CPU: i7-6850K
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Formula
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB 2400 MHz

Hard to tell what is in peoples hearts and minds. But, good bet they likely join that team for the money.
Better they fold and get money than use all that energy for just doing block-chain type mining.
That was their stated goal, to get the miners to switch to folding, for the research and the science.

Gold Diggers can also search for a Cure, but Coin is their Number One Priority IMO.

For the normal profit chasers out there this is most certainly true. But one can not say all or even most are. I would bet that most who fold for coin do care about more than the dollar signs.

I remember back when EVGA first started their BUCK promotion, I was on another team.
Our team members were livid about it, and thought they were buying folders, it's not fair, yada yada yada.
Many many teams were not thrilled about it. Just like when these xxxcoin teams fired up.

The only problem I have with it is, will it hurt the project, people cheating, dumping work or other "Not best practices"
From what I have seen cheating is not wide spread if any at all and things seems to be going ok.
Stanford does not seem to care or have any major problems with the xxxxxcoin teams.
As long as no teams try to steal members from other teams, people are free to choose what team to be on.
Or to be on several teams if they want to.
Lets face it, electric and hardware is getting expensive in this day and age.

If curecoin passes EVGA it my fire up some team spirit and get people producing more, maybe more challenges.

To be fair, there's some evga folders only doing it for the bucks as well.
To each their own, and good luck to them. As long as the science gets done I'm happy.

Some, I would think at least Half. But then that is why they stated to Fold in the first place. And this is OK Great Even.
Me I stated with hunger of the Old BigAdv Days with P4 and P2 and did not even know about the EVGA Bucks.
Now it just part of my life, and my heat in the Winter Time.

My thoughts exactly.

I folded for years with a small team of car enthusiasts, of all things.
I had been buying EVGA products for a while and switched over here when I found out about the bucks.
The community is why I stayed.

Many or most of us are doing it for both - I was doing some folding years before CureCoin existed, and I believe before EVGA Bucks program existed.
I certainly didn't make money from almost all of my VERY long involvement with the Distributed.net project (I didn't get involved with Moo Wrapper / BOINC / Gridcoin 'till very late last year, after 20+ YEARS working DES/RC5-64/CSC/RC5-72 and occasional accidental OGR work - and Gridcoin isn't really profitable, it SOMETIMES pays the electric for the gear I point that way but I can make a lot more from that gear if I pointed it at cryptocoin mining on ZEC among other options).
I also was a long-time contributer to the GIMPS prime project - for which there is NO "for-profit" option at all.
(edit) just checked, I'm still at #679 on the all-time GIMPS contributor list despite having done zero GIMPS work for a year and some now.

The fact that I can now make money at folding means I get to add MORE hardware to do MORE folding than I could do otherwise - which is a definite benefit to Pande Labs / Stanford / science, even if it is done in part due to a "for profit" motive. I could not AFFORD to be in the Folding top 400 or a frequent visitor to the "24 hour average top 30" without CUREcoin.

In the specific case of Ed Okkola, he DONATES every CURE he makes to various places - but he's a fairly high income type that doesn't need the money, investment banker or some such IIRC.

The community here is something that i doubt curecoin will ever have.

Curecoin has a pretty good community, but I concede EVGA seems to have a somewhat better one overall.

I know it's very late on an answer, but the CureCoin major productivity drop for a while back in the late Oct/Nov 2016 timeframe was probably due to the release of the "ZEC" coin, that was ASTRONOMICALLY profitable for the first few days then slowly faded quite a bit, 'till the "wide cryptocoin price jump" of the last 2 months - and CNBC was a bit off on their Bitcoin price prediction, it peaked over 2000 yesterday but the rise was almost ALL about Chinese investers continuing to flee the Yuan into one of the few places they CAN put their money outside of China - and that same investment flight has been fueling a very widespread jump in ALL major and even most minor cryptocoins (including CureCoin Gridcoin and Foldingcoin).

This jump of the last 2 months is fueling my soon-to-happen move to a new location, with over twice as much power available so I can finally do some MAJOR growing on my Folding Farm - probably won't catch Ed anytime soon but I should manage to get to top 10 of all folders before the end of the year, and possibly by late summer.

Anyone know how I can get my username changed?

The first team I ever folded for was EVGA in 2008 (see Joined). For me, it was always about the cause. Curecoin has allowed me to build a valuable 501(3)(c) in under 5 months that allows me to dedicate more resources to that cause. I have more respect for you all here, given that every KW of electricity is self-funded, but in the end, I think we're all in it for the same reason. I think that's all that matters.
