We have a EVGA Software section, any reason why this is not sticky posted in it?

Thank you for your concern over where the software is posted.  Jacob previously stickied the software update in this section, so I continued that tradition.  If you're concerned that there are CLC owners looking for this software in the EVGA Software section, I'll consider posting a second stickied thread in that section as well.

    Thanks!

If evga makes this software, it would a good fit in EVGA Software section. I see members asking questions in that section about this software.

I just got a CLC280 last week. I installed the lastest software, which is this v2.0.7. The Flow Control software seems to loose it's connection to the USB device on the CLC pump after hibernation? When it wakes up my fans are seemingly going full speed, certainly making a lot of noise. When I try to open the Flow Control app to turn the fans down it won't start, it just gives me an error warning, which says, "CPUWB ! Device not found."

Any ideas? Is it worth trying an older version?

With a lot of "Device not found" errors, please make sure that the fan header connected to the CLC is set to 100% speed in your motherboard BIOS, and not SMART or Auto.  See if setting the header to max power fixes the issue.

I think you should add this to the next iteration of the user manual. It would have saved me a few hours.
Another thing that did not help was that I searched for info on this on the software section (as it seems natural that if PrecisionX is there, Flow should be in the same place) and didn't think about looking into the "other hardware" section of the forums, so I didn't find this post soon enough.

    Hello,

I just got a Ryzen 2600x and CLC 280.  Currently the CPU TEMP is reading 80s-90s vs HWMonitor at ~30s-40s (correct temp).

Will the Flow Control software be updated to report the CPU temperature correctly for the Zen+ CPUs?

    Thanks!

Yeah seriously, when is this going to get fixed?

The pump reads my CPU temperatures horribly wrong even with an updated bios (X370 Fatality Professional Gaming + 2700X running P4.64) so it just wants to run the fans at 100% because it thinks its overheating when the CPU is reporting 40% temperatures.

I have to keep the fans on the minimum RPM simply so they aren't loud. Might end up returning it and just going with a beefy air cooler if I have to spend this much time just monitoring my CPU temperatures and adjusting fan speed when the AIO should be doing that on its own.

Does EVGA sell any AMD products? Does EVGA sell any AMD based motherboards? Does EVGA intend for their GPU's and CLC's software to discourage AMD users?
EVGA GPU's have performed well over many builds of mine using a broad range of card generations and CPU's.
Recently I have added a CLC120 to my older Skylake build and a CLC280 to my Ryzen build. I believe they work much better than the software indicates.
If only the software behaved better.

Can anyone share the Flow Control version 2.0.6 for Windows 10 64bit?
I had it. It reported the CPU temp on my X370 board correctly. I updated to 2.0.7. Back to wacky CPU temp readings. Sure would like to try 2.0.6 again.
Why did EVGA pull it from the list? My guess, (conspiracy theory) is that EVGA pulled it because IT DID work on X370 and Intel would not want that.....

I try to be sweet incase I have to eat my words, but this is exasperating trying to get fans and pumps under control without good tools.

Afaik, I don't believe we ever released v2.0.6, because the only change from v2.0.5 (literally) was to disable tooltips, which we chose not to push public.  If we did release it, it only lasted briefly because we preferred to wait until more substantial changes were made.  I can give you a link to download v2.0.6 if you wish, but other than tooltips, it is identical to v2.0.5, no other changes.

Regardless, I'll pass along these reports to our FC team, and have them look into these problems.

    Re: Flow Control v2.0.7 2018/05/09 15:50:51 (permalink)
    Trying to sort the variables.
The components hard mounted on the motherboard have not been changed so this is a static value. Temperature monitors on a motherboard should not be able to change their addresses. Right?
The manufacturer of the motherboard has released four BIOS updates in the past 45 days. All were employed and the current BIOS is in use. Four variants. Could this re-assign temperature monitor addresses? Or behaviors?
I changed the CPU from R5 1600 to R7 2700X. Significant variable. I do believe a "on-die" temperature monitor could be a very significant variable. I cannot determine if I was running 2.0.6 on the R5 1600 and R7 2700X both, or just the R7 2700X CPU.
Windows OS went thru two minor updates and one major feature release. Again, I do not have a good timeline in my memory of the change log and performance of the Flow Control readings.
    Flow Control went 2.0.5 - 6 - 7, three versions.
Somewhere along the way, Flow Control 2.0.5 was reporting 92C to 96C CPU temps with very little oscillation, Coolant was always in a tight range of 31C to 34C. During a short time of use with 2.0.6, reporting of the CPU temps went from a range of 32C to 52C, depending on use. Coolant temp was 31C to 36C again depending on use. With the new 2.0.7, it is back to high 90's on the CPU and the Coolant temps remain 31C to 36C.

AMD is reported to add 10C to the CPU temp as insurance that the device would protect itself 10 degrees sooner than AMD's determination of a damaging level. That could be a factor in back reporting.
I am not so confident that the BIOS's and software like HWMonitor and HWiNFO64 are showing temperatures alongside the correct sensors. That could cause a user to modify the incorrect fans and/or correct fan but wrong temperature levels. (AMD +10C)

I cannot determine what variable is in need of improvement or replacement.
I am very satisfied with the performance of the EVGA hardware and the PC I assembled is performing really well.

If you think trying 2.0.6 is a waste of time, I respect that and will await 2.0.8.
If another forum user was fortunate enough to have tried the 2.0.6 during it's short lived availability and saw good results on a AMD board, well please share your experience before I bother asking for access to a obsolete software version.
After all I would not want to stay on 2.0.6 forever and miss future improvements.

Version 2.0.7 was working perfectly on my AMD x370 motherboard but since i updated to an x470 board the CPU temps are way out. Showing double what tCTL or tdie are.

Can this be looked into and fixed? Coolent temps still showing as normal

Well, that's just bewildering. I am still on an X370 and cannot get Flow Control to read the CPU temp reasonably. It is always over 90C. I guess it is the result of 2(CPU temp+Ryzen 10C adder) so something like 36C+10C=46C then 46Cx2=92C.
The polling times between software like HWMonitor and HWiNFO64 make observations difficult. But, even if we figure it out, what can we do about it?

Recently got a CLC 280 and I love its performance. I'm left a little let down by the software though. Is there any way to set hysteresis for fan spin-up and spin-down? I use Precision XOC as well and it has these settings for GPU fans. I'd like to be able to set the aggressiveness of the fan to stop mine from wildly changing speeds at the first sign of CPU use.

In the fan curve, you can set it to coolant temp instead.

The LED color on mine sync's to the temperature ( flow )

but I do have my internet security program set to KILL any task called LEDSYNC if it trys to run.
