CFD Gaming were among the first to introduce consumer SSDs reaching 10 GB/s of read speed. Their next-gen storage based on NVMe 2.0 spec and equipped with PCIe Gen5 interface will deliver up to 10 GB/s of sequential read speed and up to 9.5 GB/s of sequential write speed. The SSDs are based on “PS5026-E26” made by PHISON ELECTRONICS and incorporate Micron’s 3D TLC NAND flash technology. It looks like the 2TB version of this storage is now on sale in Japan, after a 2-month delay. Thus far only the 2TB version is now available for around 49,980 Yen ($385). However, the 1TB and 4TB models have not yet reached the retail channels. This price includes a Japanese sales tax, which means that the storage would cost around $350 on the US market without it. This suggests that the price is around 13% higher than current high-end storage from Samsung, the 990 PRO based on PCIe Gen4 interface, notes Wccftech.

CFD Gaming is a storage company for the Japanese market. It is unclear if there are plans to bring their storage to other countries right now. However, this is as far as we can tell, the very first gaming PCIe Gen5 storage currently on sale. The company is not confirming whether this solid-state drive can be used without the original heatsink, but CFD recommends that the PC chassis should have adequate airflow before installing the drive.

Looks like CFD Gaming has beaten Corsair and the other OEMs for an official gen 5 NVMe M.2 launch.

Hopefully these start becoming more available quickly. The price is still relatively high since it is gen 5, but at least they are finally hitting the market.
