Thanks Daniel for processing my RMA for my new 3080 so quickly (my card was dead on arrival) I got the card in less than a week. You said to post my rig here so here ya go.

This is my very first build so I don't know anything about PC building but I'm a girl so I made sure I read those instruction manuals word for word 🀣🀣. Comments and suggestions welcome :-)

EVGA 3080FTW
Asus Rog Strix Gaming WiFi Z590
Intel 10850k
32gb Royal RAM
1tb m.2 samsung 980 pro storage
4tb samsung 870 ssd
Fractal Meshify Case
9x Lian Li Uni fans
Cosair 850w PSU
Lian Li galahad AIO
Cable Mod black cables
Cooler Master GPU support
Lian Li rgb 24 extension
Amazon something or other rgb cable combs

My eventual plan is to completely disassemble the case and get the black panels on the inside powdercoated (I work for a car dealership so I know a guy ) a light matte blue/teal (think Tiffany & Co ish). Plan on swapping the GPU power cables to a different color to go with that scheme.

It looks like RGB craziness right now (literally just installed windows last night) but I want to go with more of a teal/blue/purple color theme once I figure out how to change the rgb (suggestions welcome on what software I should use). Also could use some help setting up stuff in BIOS (no clue where to start here). PC is mostly going to be used for gaming...I purchased a 4k 144hz monitor to use with this PC.

May of forgotten some stuff but hopefully I did an okay job for my first build going in pretty much completely blind (um...don't know how to cable manage πŸ˜–).

Will post some new pictures later once I get it set up on my computer desk.

Be gentle!

-Kaitlin

How is the airflow with that case? I've heard mix reviews.

I don't know how to test that (tell me how 🀣) but I got the usage up to 100% gaming for about 20 minutes and the max temperature was 80C and the CPU temp was like 54C. I'll do a longer gaming session tomorrow. I hope I set the fans up correctly- I have 5 intake fans - 2 on bottom 3 on the front and 4 exhaust fans - 3 on top with the AIO and 1 in the rear. Computer is sitting on a perforated computer stand (see attached...haven't done any cable stuff...waiting on some supplies). I set it up this way because of the 2 bottom fans. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

I feel you. My 1080ti started having issues about 6 months ago...it took me this long to get a card. I refused to get it from ebay.

And I'll look at some wire management stuff...I want to keep the card where it is I think just because where all the other fans are.

Okay so I finished hiding as many cables as I could. The zip tie wall thingies I ordered from Amazon were awesome - definitely made it easier than I thought it would be. This is my first time doing something like this so hopefully I did an okay job! I can't do too much about the second cable - it's actually my lighting fixture since I have a clerestory roof and this is how the previous owner decided to do lighting.

Thanks. I'm trying to give my dogs seizures from that lighting πŸ‘Œ.

My puppy did help me build everything though...by chewing all the cardboard, zip ties, and instructions. It was awesome. He was just waiting for me to break open that ikea box.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags!
The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Re: First Build - Thanks Daniel!! 2021/06/04 16:39:17 (permalink)
Thanks guys ^_^ appreciate the love. Well I got my monitor stand/arm thingie in so I'll be installing that next...the monitor is just too short for me and a bit too close when sitting in my chair. I may have overcompensated a little...in hindsight maybe 43" was too big 🀣

Also received some rgb custom backplate and a new gpu bracket. Teal is different levels of transparent and black is solid. Yes this card is not used for mining. And Yes I like rust okay? 10k hours. So need to install those.

I am also going to disassemble my old computer and dissect the 1080ti and rebuild it and replace the fans (fans are loud af and card overheats) so I can build a decent back up computer (seems silly to just let it sit and collect dust). Wish me luck...worse case scenario I break something that is technically already broken. I think I'd go with a different case though...kinda wanna do a small case build.

I finally did make it in the elite queue after 2 hours of crashed site (754am and 809am) πŸ˜” so I'm hoping to get a notification for a 3080 ti πŸ™. If I get a notification within a couple weeks my plan is to disassemble and get the case powdercoated as planned and just use the backup (1080ti) while it's down.

DANIEL I WANT A TSHIRT!! I signed up to be an elite member in April and somehow missed this spin wheel thingie. Could care less about a discount. I want a "I camped out evgas website on 6/3 and all I got is this stupid tshirt" shirt.

I also want to buy this dark z590 evga motherboard...because pretty. Hopefully this thing gets released soon. I think I'd use the 3080ti and put the 3080 back in the white case and do a murdered out build (all black). My inspiration would be the BMW X6 attached below. #bmwnerd

May the queue be short for all you gamers out there 🀞

Like the build Congrats! Yes, 43" could be an overkill, still getting used to 32" 1440p myself, so 40" for a 4k would be max I would go at this point, maybe even a smaller 4k would be great.

Regarding heat, you can probably decrease the number of fans or play with RPM to achieve better cooling and still keeping the visuals. There was a nice video on Hardware Canucks:
How Many Case Fans Do You REALLY Need?

I went with Lian Li O11 dynamic mini, intake: 3x120 bottom, 2x140 side + 1 out at the back, but don't have a power hungry GPU yet to test it out in full. Hopefully this will change soon

I wonder if I should run the AIO in the front. Or run 140mm fans up front. My brain always tends to go big. I forgot how big 43 is...I went to go pick it up at Microcenter and I was like....****...how am I gonna fit this in my 335 coupe?!?! I'm going to get 2 more 27" and extend my desk too.

But where there is a will there is a way 😈. Had to drive home with the top down though πŸ˜…
