Does anyone have any idea what an E8 code means? My system won't post- reseated RAM, reseated CPU, tried one and two sticks of ram in slots 1 and 3... Any ideas? I'm a little frustrated. :(

Thanks!

to fix the error i reseated the ram after realizing one of the sticks was not fulled locked into place. the only thing i could find when i googled it was a site telling you to ensure it was in the correct slots. they slots are very tight so the ram seems to be seated when the clips take but you have to push very hard to get them to go all the way into the socket.--- i had the same exact experience as frarob below

I recieved an E8 error code upon firing up my P555 SLI MOBO for the first time. I spent hours trying to find an official explanation for this code. In absence of an official explanation, I started to look at the code as if it was being displayed incorrectly (e.g. numbers transposed or the 8 could be a "B" etc). I then compared these posibilities with the errors listed in the MOBO installation guide. I noticed that "3B" ("Test System Memory")could be a distant possibility. A few spurious user comentaries on the web made mention of the error code and a couple users resolved their problem by reseating their RAM. Upon reseating my RAM (2 sticks dual channel Ripjaw), I noticed that the RAM was not seated deep enough into the socket. The new sockets are very tight; it took considerable pressure to get the RAM to bottom out. Once they were properly seated , I was able to move past the E8 error message. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE POSITION OF THE END CLIPS... THEY APPEAR TO BE IN THE PROPER POSITION EVEN THOUGH THE RAM IS INCORRECTLY INSTALLED. A good check of the ram is to feel them simultaneously for the purpose of comparing their height. Once I got the first one seated correctly, the second one fealt too high. I hope this helps.
