Having this problem for the past couple weeks. Everytime i start up my pc it restarts by itself. it can happen right when i log into my windows account, browsing the web, or in game. check the memory dump and it says nvlddmkm.sys is the cause of it. any ideas how i can fix this? (evga 3080 ftw) (edited)
already used ddu to freshly install the driver
(Nothing OC except for the rams standard xmp)

Has any hardware changed in the system in the last few weeks? I would be looking to see if a windows update is available or try rolling back to a previous NVIDIA driver to see if the issue still happens.

No, no hardware changes at all.
Since its been happening, nvidia has released 2 new drivers. and both times ive updated them ive used ddu.
Unless the past 3 driver updates are bad (for me) idk.
Doing a windows update now. Any other suggestions?

So, no Blue Screen, just reboots your PC?

please list all hardware & OS

Fast boot off in MB BIOS?

    Fast Startup off in Windows?

Try holding shift key down, then in Windows select shutdown, Hold Shift key until all power is off on PC.  This clears the Windows startup file, which Windows uses by default instead of polling your hardware & drivers for changes

Any monitoring Software running? case fans, CPU, GPU, temps ?

Make sure you are offline when you uninstall or clean install your GPU driver (that you previously downloaded) & turn off all background software, Yep even security software.  Now install Nvidia driver, use clean install.  Shutdown PC with the Shift key held down.  Reboot, check security software is running, then enable internet

    i9 9900k
    asus z390 prime
    Geil Super Luce 16gb ddr4
    3080 ftw ult
nothing OCed except the ram (using its standard xmp profile)
I believe both fast startup and boot are turned off. (would have to verify)
Only software i have running would be precision x1 for my gpu fan curve

And no blue screen. Black screen, monitor loses signal and pc turns off and on by itself.
I also had no internet connection when i installed freshly installed the drivers

That is often actually a blue screen but the error occurred in the graphics stack so no screen could be displayed. Download Whocrashed and run it, you may have a bunch of crash dumps from the bsods.

Sounds like a psu issue to me. Which psu do you have and how old is it?

Go get yourself a good quality corsair psu 850-1000w and call it a day. I have had way too many EVGA psu's fail on me to trust them. Especially their new manufacturer...

I doubt its that. It only crashes in the first few mins of powering on my pc and sometimes when starting up a game or web browsing. But once im in the game (in game so pc is using more power) it doesnt crash.

Ive read that some people are having the same issue and they are blaming it on the newest drivers. Im going to uninstall them and download some older ones to see if it fixes my issue
