EVGA DP HUB- DP to HDMI

I am trying to use this hub for my HP laptop. The laptop only has HDMI port for display. So i am using a HDMI to DP cable to plug into the HUB. but not display is coming through. 
Is it possible for the Hub to work with a HDMI to DP cable.

    I would think that display port hubs would require display port connections from the laptop unfortunately. DisplayPort and HDMI have different pin outs, and I would assume that the DisplayPort has more pins to allow for daisy chaining a device through a hub.

    The display port hub is designed to be used with displayport outputs only as displayports are able to support multi signal output through a single port and HDMI does not.
