    It's a nice upgrade for performance, yet a massive cost increase over the previous 3080. It's your call if it's worth the cost - check out some benchmarks for the games you play at the resolution that you play at. That should help you decide.

    Roughly 50W difference between the two for gaming - 4080 coming out the winner here.

    Fan noise and temps, per TPU:
    3080Ti FTW3 = 39.1 dBA at nearly 2000RPM and temps are at 79C (GPU)/88C (hotspot)/86C (memory)
    4080FE = 34.3 dBA at 1350RPM and temps are at 63C (GPU)/73C (hotspot)/68C (memory)

    You'll gain about 20% in performance overall.

    If you feel the gains offset the cost of a 4080 then go for it. If you don't feel it's worth it, then hold off.

    The 3080Ti, you may be able to get upwards of $700 on ebay for it. After looking at the listed sold 3080Ti FTW3, they range in sold prices of $625 to $725. You might be able to recoup a good bit of your money after you pickup a 4080.

    I only have a 3080 FTW3, and I don't think it's worth it. But I only game at almost 1440. I just bought Atomic Heart, and I'm between 150-200fps indoors. Ray tracing and DLSS games are a hit and miss depending on the amount of lighting, etc. What I'd suggest is looking up the games you play in youtube and get a feel for the FPS others get on it then decide from there.

    If you're happy with the gaming performance, there is no need to upgrade.

    I'm building my wife a PC with a 3090ti I'm not going to give away on Ebay, should keep her busy for a year or 2.

    It's a nice upgrade performance wise yet not as big of a jump as a 4090. If you are going to spend the money on a 4080 may as well spend the extra money on the 4090, or wait for the 4080 and 4090 TI's to see what they bring to the table and if it's a performance increase worth the upgrade.

    so i got the 4080fe and i am completely happy with it, the random fps drops with the 3080ti ftw 3 is gone, the jet engine sound from the cards is gone, also the ftw3 fans had a high pitch sound as well that drove me nuts, better fps lower stuttering, way lower temps and way lower fan speeds is all good.  i was initially skeptical but i think i came out on top for my issues.

     You didn't make the prices go down, you did it wrong or something.

    Got a 3080 12g and on the fence about getting a 4080 myself.

    Seems a solid 20+fps overall, not counting dlss3.

    If I buy one will the prices finally go down?
