i was REALLY hoping evga would have the new atx 3.0

but i FINALLY manged ot grab a 4090 and well my current power supply wont be able to power it and my other stuff.

for  reference this is my build
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1p8O91LVcITEtPWXnn4LRVkEynz8hXoQGySMRRxEKtFs/edit#gid=0
i also have 3x  SSD's form my old computer

 so here are my questions
is there any benefit to atx 3.0 power supply other than the new cable?  like i heard about new regulations on power excursions.
i would really like to get an  evga model, but since they dont have thieirs out yet.. im kinda stuck.

if its not nessary to get the improvements of a 3.0 ( such as evga older models meeting the new regulations on power excursions)
which models should i get?
i see 5 different modesl for the 1300 watt how do u know which one im supposed to get?

i mean i know i want fluid dynamic bearing

what do u think would be best?

The main benefit for ATX 3.0 PSUs are better cable management, because you won't have to use the RTX 4090 octopus cable. The power regulation is slightly better.

Any of the EVGA 1300 watt PSUs will be more than enough for your needs. Personally I like the platinum EVGA 1300 watt PSU, but if you need to save some cash any of the EVGA 1300 watt Gold rated PSUs are also fine.

i mean i just dont know that the difference is

     if i check compare i see  operating temp 0-50C and 50+ C

does this means thgats how hot the psu is going to get? should i get a cooler model?
or does that mean it will works if it gets to 50+
so i should get one with the higher rating

     i see GT G+
     X1 and XR

     what do these mean?

all i know is that i want fluid dynamic bearing which that basically all have

is there a downside to dual rail?
is there a downside to the compact one?

Well the operating temps means the PSU can operate up to 50C and I don't think the room for your PC will ever get that hot.

You need to look at each PSU spec and read the specs to see what the difference is. The numbers you mention like GT G+ are part of the model numbers.

Dual rail is fine so long as you make sure sure you distribute the power evenly. I prefer single rail myself so I don't have to worry about power distribution.

Just make sure your PC case can accommodate the size of the PSU you want to buy.

Are any of the EVGA power supplies ATX 3.0? I can not tell from the specs. Just got a 4090 and will also probably be building a new rig here soon. Would like a new power supply for the new rig when I do and would be nice to have a cleaner cable setup for the 4090.

There are rumors that EVGA is working on an ATX 3.0 PSU, but right now this is just a rumor. If there is any new hardware coming you'll see this announced on twitter by EVGA's Jacob Freeman.

Ok much thanks - not sure when I will do the new build so hopefully these are more common at the time I do,

I'm pretty sure they'll become ubiquitous in short order....the 1300W Plat is what I'd go for as well...
I'd go for a Titanium if they have them ..but that increases cost.

There are some reviews of these supplies on the internet and if you search this forum for particular model, you'll find some information there too. You may have to click on the text at the bottom of the page that says "last 30 days" and change it to "from the beginning" as posts get hidden after they're older than 30 days by default. That will help you find more results in your searches.

The only supply on that list I've heard bad things about are the "+" models. Supposedly they operate fine, but are quite loud. I've read different complaints about fan noise, but mostly it seems like the topology results in serious coil while or some kind of buzzing sound at different load-levels. If you're not planning on going to a 13900k/ks/kf and overclocking the pants off it, honestly I'd go with the 1000W T2. It's a much better supply than the G+ or P+ according to reviews. The G6 and G7 models are also reviewed very well (I know some people running G6 supplies and they love them).

If you really want a newer supply that has the new cable and don't want to wait for EVGA, I'd recommend checking out the new supplies from Seasonic, Be Quiet! (which just launched today so I'm not sure when they'll be in stock, they'll have bigger "pro" models out soon too supposedly). Here's a list of all the ones people are aware of, but personally I'd be inclined to buy from EVGA, Seasonic (which makes EVGA's G6/P6 line), Be Quiet!, or Super-Flower (which makes EVGA's G2, G3, P2, P3, T2 lines as far as I know). Corsair also makes good supplies. It seems like the MSI MEG and Seasonic 1200W gold are the only ones you could order today from that list.

6Q6CPFHPBPCU691 is a discount code anyone can use.

That info should be on the side of the PSU, or in the manual.

I have the platinum 1300w and am very happy with it. Until other brands but NVIDIA start to support ATX 3 I don’t think I will upgrade.

The Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1350W ATX v3.0 should be good by the looks of it.

Unfortunately thermaltake usually overprices their stuff so expect to pay more than you should for it.

I'm using a supernova 1300 g2 with the nvidia octopus cable to my 4090 and it works fine but I also have a lot of room between the power plug and the top of my case for it to stick up.

I made sure that I plugged the adapter into the card first, double checked because the first click I heard was not the latch seating fully.  Once I wiggled and pushed a bit more the latch clicked again and completely seated which I verified with a flashlight.

I am now using the Corsair shift rm1200X ATX 3.0 PSU. It's working fine and my cable management has vastly improved.

If you want a stout psu get a seasonic 1300w titanium psu. SSR-1300TR. I just bought one and it’s powering a 13900k with a 4090 & a 3090. I was having issues with my system shutting off when minimizing and maximizing cyberpunk 2077 when the system was pulling 1160w with my old 1300w psu from seasonic which was the ssr-1300pd. My issues were resolved with the SSR-1300TR. 👍😎

I like the plug arrangement on the shift but their two pcie to 12vhpwr cable is on the cheesy side.
