Hey all.

After several RMA's due to gpu issues I finally got a working RTX 3080.  My only question is it runs about 15 to 20 C hotter than the ones I RMAd.

I run games at 3440x1440 144hz and 1920x1080 240hz.  Max settings.  I used to never see above 75c with an aggressive fan curve and 90% of the time never above 65 to 70c.

Now every game I play at aggressive fan setting I am hitting 70 to 83c.

Nothing in my PC case changed.  And its dead winter.  Idle temps are fine.  No performance issues.

My question, how long can I expect my gpu to last at 83c?  Also how long can I expect fans to last at 100% spin speed?  I am on my pc 16 hours a day and I am gaming anywhere from 4 to 8 hours a day 3 to 5 times a week.  When I game now have to set fans to 100% just to keep the gpu under 80c

Icarus, Dying Light2,  Spiderman, Warzone 2.0 all sit at 78c if I put fans to 100%,  On aggressive it's 81 to 83c

Its just really hot and I am concerned come summer I wont be able to game if temps get too hot.

Just to give reference.

Outriders | i7 13700K - RTX 3080 12GB - 32GB DDR5 Ram 6000mhz - 3440x1440 Max Settings - YouTube

This was the RTX 3080 XC3 than the fans died on,  144hz 3440x1440  65 to 66c was the hottest it got.

Here I am hitting 77C on 60hz locked  Outriders | 3440x1440 RTX 3080 12GB I7 13700K Max Settings - YouTube

I cant play at 144hz anymore because I hit thermal limit.

When I contacted support I was told it was normal.  I dont see how its normal to no longer be able to play at the hz and res I once played at, so I closed the ticket as the person didnt understand the concern.

can you be more specific please?  Do I need to only repaste thermal paste or do I need thermal pads as well?

It would be best to replace the thermal putty and pads while you have it apart. Otherwise, it may not ever re-make proper contact.

If this is your first time doing it, it would probably best to just RMA it (again!) rather than risk breaking it and voiding the warranty.

EVGA should replace it for $0 out of your pocket, since this isn't the first time RMAing the same card.

I rmad the card 4x.  I really dont want to do it a 5th time.  Ill monitor temps and get some videos gathered in case I need to.  And yeah I never repasted a gpu before.  I still got the warranty and another 18 month or so on it.  Ill see how it goes.  TY for the answer.
