Hi,

Got myself an MSI 4090 and trying to decide if it’s worth forking over for 2 year protection plan with Microcenter. I know majority of these plans are just a waste of money, but not having had any experience with MSI’s support, wanted to check for some feedback..

TIA

Can you do anything right?

You should do some research before charging your CC and bringing home any purchased item.

How you can shell $1,700+ without knowing a simple fact about quality, performance, warranty, etc...

It is time to check what Google cand do for you.

Whoa!

I saw that one in stock, and with the low frequency of them appearing I bought it and brought it home.

I did make a google search and most accounts were either from 2 years ago, and some from 7 months ago, with mixed reports. That’s why I’m here on the forum asking for personal feedback.

Why are you offended by my choice? Have I harmed you in anyway by starting a thread? Yeesh….

Well, 4090 had been launched three and half months ago.
Since EVGA decided to quit GPU business, it was time to turn attention on AIBs.
Nvidia did a great job this time and card is so powerful that need no overclocking (dual BIOS, or additional cooling solution)
So AIBs couldn't make it wrong, means you couldn't go wrong by buying the less expensive model from any of them.

In fact, MSI is my choice, replacing two decades long loyalty to EVGA.

Enjoy the fact that you own the absolutely best card on the GPU market atm.

I got you.

The thing is, I have a 3090 hybrid, and was at planning on an update, so did a very cursory research. I still think your initial response was a bit over handed, but no worries.

Sorry for derailing your original thread in the GPU section. I and most others hope your purchase works out for you. My only experience with MSI is with mobo’s and they have been solid, no rma’s. I would not pay for extended warranty on these type of items, but an extra 15% or so for a 1700-1800$ card? Probably. When is your new card coming? Keep us informed.

It wasn’t derailed at all. Please don’t think that.

I have the card in hand, I bought it from my local Microcenter. They said if I bring back unopened box within 15 days, I can get their protection plan. I am waiting for the riser block to be delivered, so didn’t even had a need to open the box. That’s why I thought of specifically asking for personal experience with RMA, just in case.

Thanks again to all contributed.

On any Company I like to google the horror stories about them first. (Example) google MSI motherboard they wont take my rma even do I am still under warranty. Be creative on what you type about each company on maybe what issues people are having with getting warranty Honor, You going get ton complains read on and from there after soo much reading make a desicion that mmake you happy. Is what I do ton research before blowing my money. Is how I decided on EVGA years ago and how they talk to me in Phone calls which are pleaseant. Use your imagination in typing who you gathering data on.
