Same, just had to retire my EVGA X299 FTW and i9 7940X (Silicon Lottery binned CPU) setup.  Two of the memory slots died after a reboot.  Thankfully I have other systems to use in the meantime but I have my 13900K, DDR5 RAM and a 4090 on the way.

It's fine. This is fine. I'll just hide the parts I have so they aren't staring at me.

Going to be harder for me with my gaming PC dead.  Giving GeForce Now a try on my Mac and it's decent but just not the same.  Should be worth the wait though.

The wait would be easier if we could see the boards and get a detailed breakdown of their features. The boards have to have been made if we are talking about sales being within a few weeks.

oh bummer, Yah I had that happen back on the X79Dark 4930K
I've got a Z370FTW 9900KF I use as well. hoping neither die. Might turn the X299 into a file server/back game rig
I'm actually more fond of the Z370 then the X299

Yikes what justifies that price $ tag. Other MBs with similar features from MSI and Asus have a way more reasonable price tag$

Can someone point out what makes this one so expensive?

Looks like it's priced to compete with the now $629 Asus Hero, $699 MEG Ace, and $799 Aorus Extreme.

Do any of those boards have 12 layer PCBs or rotated sockets? Classified isn't my bag, but I can see why they've priced it there. Expect the Dark Kingpin to be $829-899 now.

I'm Still not sure a side ways socket and 12-layer PCB Justify that price tag. Remembering when the previous Dark boards with $400...

yeah i mean all the prices are crazy now, no argument there. but based on the market it looks like they're competitive in the class for this hardware.

Yah just like GPU's the inflation in the past couple years has been insane. The last MB's I bought 5yrs ago didn't cost as much as the old MSRP GPU's (1080s, 2080s)

I doubt that. z790/13th gen is an interim chipset and chip. New socket is coming.

looks like it will be a new socket oof

"According to the details, the Intel LGA 2551 socket for Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake CPUs will have exact measurements of 38mm x 46mm and will only be slightly bigger than the existing LGA 1700 / 1800 socket which means those 2551 pins might be packed tightly compared to current designs so that the socket doesn't take a whole lot of space on mainstream platforms."

I was betting Classy $699, KP $899. I'd hope for cheaper, but what in the world has gotten cheaper the last couple years? lol

Well...I was half right so far.

The Z790 is listed.
https://www.evga.com/prod...aspx?pn=121-RL-E798-KR

Was this link for the Z790 classified? And if so was there a price listed and if so how much?

Im also waiting for this board to come out EVGA please send some units to EVGA Europe website so we the European costumers can buy it as well.

PS to any one is a i9-13900K overkill for the Z790 Classified for mainly gaming or should i just go with the i7-13700K? Planning to use the rig for at least 5 years or longer. So the cpu needs to be holding its own for 5 years without upgrade.

Was classified. $699. Can’t help you with the cpu selection - either will satisfy you for gaming, but if you’re already spending $700 on a board, might as well go with the i9?

Like me, most people don't need the i9-13900k, but if you are buying a motherboard that costs $800, probably you won't be satisfied with cheap cooler, ssd and so on. If you are purchasing the best components, why save $200 on the main one? If I wanted to save money on my PC  build, the first component I'd cut costs is the motherboard.
