EVGA is the only of a few companies out there in the field, which has thinking engineers and designers. Pushing Z790 to full matte surface was an excellent move, away from shiny and scratchprone surface of Z690.

This is the good old Z690 Darkie, she's a beast, but she gets dusty very fast and catches up scratches when I want to clean her:


 
And this is my new queen, Z790, in all of her matte glory! And even the anodized PCH cooler seems enhanced. The one on Z690 is pretty soft. I put the foil down and it scratched it. Thank You!

    For what it's worth, there are no yellow capacitors on the Z790 boards.

    Definitely a plus. Those yellow caps looked out of place. Much better look for the Z790

    It’s like putting fancy racing brake calipers on your sports car. Give me the giant yellow caps please 😁

    lol zippy. are you reflecting on ugly performance vs pretty performance?  or the inconvenience of doing real LN2 cooling given the heatsink dimensions and whatnot?

    I'm in the same boat to be honest, I just needed a board that worked with high frequency DDR5 after having to fight an ASUS Z690 board. I know what LN2 is, used to OC before but I can't be bothered anymore, it just has to work.
    Same for my 2080Ti Kingpin back then, bought it because of the AIO and pretty much unlimited power limit.

    I agree. At first, when I saw those yellow capacitors in the photos, I thought it didn't match the board, but after receiving my Z690 Kingpin I've changed my mind. It's like a muscle car with fancy racing brake calipers.
    I really liked the yellow accent on the board.
