Actually, that’s a lie. I have an X299 that i actually just received the bios chip replacement as i was typing this. So thanks, EVGA.
But have a few questions: I picked up a Z690 Classified recently and i’m not going to say things have been rocky, but they haven’t really been smooth.
For one; for the life of me, i can’t get Windows installed. Every time i’ve gone to install (from a live usb) i get “you’re missing a driver”. Well, thanks Windows, for that horribly ambiguous error. I’ve tried multiple different downloads of Windows 11, and 10. Have flashed the usb with Balena, Rufus, and some obscure linux utils. I’ve tried literally going line by line with the EVGA provided USB containing drivers and nothing. I’ve tried from multiple different ports, different sticks, even tried flashing it directly to an SSD. It’s actually quite maddening
In the meantime i’ve managed to get linux installed on it to wet my beak with the UI and overall experience. And that leads me to number two.
Memory overclocking…….. i have four sticks of Corsair Vengeance 5600 and cannot get it above 5000. With two sticks 5400, and one 5600. Which is XMP. And that was before i flashed the newest bios which seems to be fairing me worse somehow. Also, i’ve noticed i’m getting a decent divergence in voltages between the two channels, anyone experience this?
And lastly the security setups.. i have SED encryption enabled SSD’s and every time i’ve set an admin or user password it just locks the device, and i can’t figure out for the life of me how to utilize the PSID reset tool in system. If anyone had any insight that’d be amazing. I’m still waiting on CS to parlé a definitive answer back on it.
Thanks in advance!
