So here is what happened. Yesterday out of the blue my Z20 keyboards RGB turn off and the USB made the disconnection sound. Then it came back on for about 4 seconds and started disconnecting and reconnecting repeatedly until it went dead again. It would not come back on until I unplugged the USB cables from the computer and them plugged them back in. Now today as i was typing it did the same exact thing but this time came back up almost immediately but all the keys where typing as if Capslock and alternate character lock was on. It did eventually correct itself but I am concerned now that maybe my keyboard is going bad? I have not even had it for 6 months.

I got similar problem I had to RMA. I advice call support tell symptoms and I am pretty sure you be RMA too.

This does sound like an RMA. I assume you tried a different USB port already.

Same problem with one of my Z20's. I'm going to have to send it back for RMA too.
The problem will persist and get more frequent. Sometimes it will disconnect then reconnect but eventually it will disconnect and require a plug and unplug. Rinse/Repeat.

I also sent an email to you regarding the issue with your keyboard, however it looks like you have multiple registered to your account. If you can provide the serial number in your next email reply to us that will ensure we get the tickets documented for the correct product!

Thank you all for your responses. I think I found the culprit. I have both USB cables from the keyboard plugged side by side into USB 3.2 gen 1 ports on the back of my asus x570 prime pro/cms mobo. The issue seems to have been the sheer weight of the cables on the USB ports. Over a little bit of time the cables sag and the connectivity in the port becomes intermittent because it is not making full straight contact anymore. A lot of people in a different forum told me it was AMD hardware chipset flaw causing USB dropout. This to me did not make any sense because the USB is not handled by separate chipsets. So if the USB was a AMD chipset issue then would it not be happening to all the devices plugged into USB. Anyway my solution that has been working so far, was to put a screw into a empty case screw slot higher then the USB ports and then take a zip tie and tension it just enough to remove the cable weight off the usb ports. After doing this I have not had the issue.
All seems to be working just fine.

Having similar issues as well. The LED 'breathing' also seems very choppy instead of smooth. An unplug / replug is the only thing that currently fixes it for a moment.

The keyboard has two usb plugs right, I don't know if this is a solution if you are not interested in the usb connector on the keyboard, but I haven't powered it up the second connector and I see that it hasn't been disconnected for a few days.

I tried the "don't use the second plug" method with mine but that won't stop the eventual failure.
EVGA reached out to me and after a basic Q&A to make sure it was defective (which it most certainly is) I got an RMA for mine, but between trying to find a proper box to return it cross country and more importantly the cost of shipping which is half the price of a new keyboard it seems futile. I had another one brand new in the box from picking up a combo Z690 Classified deal and just opened that one up and started using it and it's working properly.
I plugged my defective Z20 back in one more time in the same system that is running with the fully functioning Z20 and yep, within a few minutes disconnect and dead as always.
I picked up two Z20's last year at the same time one for myself and the other for my wife and hers is still going strong. I just had a dud that slowly got worse with time with the disconnects till it happens within a minute or two now and stays disconnected.

ahh ok Yea I kind thought about how heavy cables are and since I build my own desk and has back board attach to it that hold Monitor I use a screw I place on back to give support to Keyboard USB Cable so I don't get that issue. Glad you figure it out.

Mine is doing the same thing, turning itself off randomly, sometimes recovering, sometimes not. Tried several different USB ports. Unplugging and resetting has worked for a couple weeks, but today it would immediately turn back off. It's about 5 months old and I ignored a firmware update for a long time, and it has updated a few times recently with no change in behavior noticed. I was going to see if there was a MB update, but their site is down atm. Z490-Plus wifi TUF Gaming 10600k

My Z20 started doing the same thing right after the most recent firmware update in the Unleash RGB app. Before that there have been zero problems from the time I bought it in June of 2021 till now but it happens every day at least once per day and sometimes two or three times a day since the firmware update a week or two ago. I too made sure any weight was taken off the cables and tried different USB ports with no change in the issue as of yet. I wonder if a simple firmware update will fix my issue but have no idea if it was just a coincidence of timing and software or hardware is the culprit. edit: By the way I have been using EVGA products for a long time now and have had very few issues with any products in the past...just wanted that out there. Love EVGA!! Thank you for being awesome!

Sadly I do not have another keyboard to use if i RMA this one. Also I was able to get my keyboard to work with a ziptie on the back near the USB plugs to support the these heavy wires from saggin in the USB socket. All was right and working great until 2 days ago. 2 days ago the keyboard randomly turned off then back on and seemed to be fine for the rest of the day, then it did it again yesterday, then about 30 minutes ago it turned completely off and required that i unplug it and plug it back in. This seem to be a common flaw with the Z20's as I am seeing this issue crop up on all kinds of forums.

Ok, so i RMA my keyboard. Got the new one a week ago and everything was working perfectly. Until yesterday. Now the keyboard is randomly connecting and disconnecting from the usb.
In this instance I was not even sitting at the computer.The computer was idle, I went down stair for about 20 minutes came back and windows was making the connect disconnect sound. I turned on usblogview and this is what I got. (MORE INFO AT THE BOTTOM).

I have both USB plugged into usb 3.2 gen 2 slots on my Asus Prime x570 pro/csm mobo. All drivers are the latest from AMD for the chipset and the bios is the latest Asus 4408 bios. The crappy sirtech dragon keyboad that i was using while this was in the RMA process was plugged into the same usb slot and did not disconnect at all. I am really starting to believe that this is a systemic defect in the z20 series. Just to test i plugged this keyboard into my Gigabyte I5 11k gaming laptop and it did the same thing tonight.

Since the above post I have had this Z20 keyboard randomly shut itself off and turn itself back on over a dozen times. Googling this issue has revealed to me that there are a ton of people experiencing this same issue with this same keyboard. Even a few youtube videos showing this issue. I do not know what to do from this point forward. I really like this keyboard when it works. Also as a side note, this issue seems to happen when i am typing a lot or at a faster speed then i usually type at.

I have this problem too. I'm running a Z20 keyboard that has been RMA'd 2 or 3 times now and is not fixed. I have a newer 12th generation i9 Intel computer that runs great and has updated drivers -- this keyboard is the only issue. EVGA, do you have a fix yet?

No sense asking the same question. So what is the fix I'm about really to throw this keyboard in the garbage. New software pls, new bios?
