Dear EVGA,

by any chance, do You have FW update for this NiC? I wrote to Intel, it's their job, but they tell me it's Your job, please have a look.

Please let me know. Getting constant speed downgrades from 1000 gbps to 100 mbps and disabling/re-enabling the NiC 10x a day is super tiresome.

Thank You!

With kind regards

Isn’t it the same NIC between the Dark and the Classified? Maybe it’s a driver issue. Try the Classified driver from EVGA’s download center. On that note, I had to manually install the driver for my Classified since there isn’t an installer for it.

I did try that, they're identical, the packages :(. I also tried a few from Asus that use this NiC, and many more. From what I've seen on reddit, this one poses massive issues to many people and many of them purchased dedicated network card in order to "fix" this issue.

That's really odd. I've been using my Classified board for less than a week, but I'm still seeing normal download & upload speeds for my gigabit connection. Hopefully it doesn't become an issue down the road, and hopefully it gets resolved for you.

When  T1000 8GB arrives for my Lenovo P350, I'll upgrade it and will do another clean install, maybe that'll help :/

The firmware you speak of only applies to older I225's from around 2019-2020. All new 225's have the firmware straight from the factory.

We'd definitely new a new FW for 2022, the pre-Covid FW ain't no good...

That's local [LAN] or from the internet? Is whole infrastructure running 2.5, 5 or 10 gbps? From source to target and from target to source?

Dayum, that's some massive speed.

Hard to get a benchmark on that one mate. Do You have another device, which has 2.5 gbps+ capability where You could test the speeds?

Don't forget that these are unusual speeds and the modem itself could shape You for multiple reasons, not only motherboard.

Our team said they tested with your environment but couldn't reproduce the issue.  For now, they'd like you to try the latest Intel driver package 27.4:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/727998/intel-network-adapter-driver-for-microsoft-windows-11.html

If it doesn't work, we'll provide you with an update for the NVM.

I did as You instructed, but since it started working due to some fixes I applied in this thread also with older driver and without NVM update, which didn't pass probably due to already existing newest FW in NiC, I'll simply update this thread in 24 - 48 hours whether it still works, even with the newest driver.

Thank You for Your time and effort!

I just stumbled upon this thread after 2 days of trying to get my ethernet drivers working. Thankfully I can now connect at 100 Mbps, but really I should be able to use the full capability of 2.5 Gbps?

Any idea how we can get this to push up to a bit faster speeds?

Hey there mate!

I wasn't able to fix this using drivers, but one advice given to me here on forums.

Go to traditional Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections > Right click and properties on NiC > Networking > Left click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties > General > Advanced... > WINS > and in NetBIOS settings radio select the Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, turn off the PC, remove power cord/turn off the PSU, etc. let it rest for 15 - 20 seconds, turn it on.

From time to time it'll degradate back to 100 mbps, but most of the time You'll be running full 2.5 gbps, hope this helps!

Cheers!

Hey there mate! Glad it helped!

And it was this thread, this post by Bee_Dee_3_Dee.

And remember, it will degarde from time to time, but it won't be happening all the time after few minutes and few minutes after each reconnect or disable/re-enable of NiC, it'll happen like once a week, a month, etc.

It's an innate bug in I225-V and it's Intel's fault, they're unwilling to fix it, it's a dead NiC [regarding it's nearing EoL status], super old, super unreliable, etc. The poor choice of this c*appy NiC is on EVGA, the rest is on Intel. Neverthless, Classy and KP are still the two best Z690 mobos out there ["had them all"], so I'll just keep my mouth shut regarding EVGA.

EVGA is the only company where I've ever gotten some real help. I'll never forget Asus for "fixing" my Apex. No, not fixing, making the XMP work in it's rated mode. I can't get a single hertz more than XMP and a single nanosecond less than the rated values. Asus literally made burning boards this generation [badly polarized capacitor on Hero] and ruined first two batches of Apex completely [made them an expensive and utterly memory unoverclocking boards].

Asus is an as*hole company. I mean it, if I had that kind of money, I'd sue them till they stop existing on a molecular level.

EVGA did some mistakes in the past too [the dumb MMO from Amazon and burning EVGA cards], BUT, EVGA manned up and ate their oiwn c*ap and gave it's fans and customers what was due.

Asus didn't! Asus simply hides behind implausable and non-existing fixes and doesn't give a damn about anything! F*CK ASUS!

I'm sticking to EVGA for the time being. EVGA isn't faultless, but it's the best there is.

I've asked our MB team to review.
You're my hero!  Thank You!

Our team said they tested with your environment but couldn't reproduce the issue.  For now, they'd like you to try the latest Intel driver package 27.4:

If it doesn't work, we'll provide you with an update for the NVM.

Hello,
Apologies for reviving an old thread. I've followed the troubleshooting steps noted within this thread and performed additional troubleshooting steps but to no avail. Is it possible for me to request for the tool to update the NVM to attempt to address this issue?

Thanks!

I'm going to second reviving this old thread. I'm sorry but I'm going to go ahead and -1 for EVGA on this topic. If you dig around the internet, the Intel I225-V NIC is a known faulty device that is plaguing users. Evga is slow to get their motherboards out compared to other manufacturers, but that's because they hand craft the most quality motherboards... supposedly. I waited for my kingpin motherboard and had to rebuild once I got it only to experience the same issue I had with my MSI UNIFY-X. At least that board was capable of sometimes connecting at 1000 if I fixed the negotiation speed and unplugged and replugged in a few times. I'm stuck at 100/100. If EVGA had done a fair amount of testing at choosing a built in NIC, we wouldn't be stuck with faulty hardware. If EVGA could figure out a workaround for their "premium" motherboards not being capable of basic 1 Gbe functionality, and documented it well enough for us to find, maybe it would be forgivable, but as of right now, I'm looking at having completely broken NIC hardware unless I want to buy a handfull of switches to test which will work for this broken NIC and send the rest back.

Seriously, next time just include a stable 1 Gbe port, or at least one that works.

I can confirm that the port works better with some switches over others. I'm not sure if negotiation standards have changed over the years, but if you can install firmware updates to unmanaged switches, I'm unaware how.

The problems were reported after the release of Intel's I225-V and evga isn't the only motherboard vendor having this issue, every motherboard that has Intel's I225-V has issues with gig lan. Also its not evga's fault and responsibility to fix Intel's issues, if only they could have predicted the future. Comparing Asus, MSI and Gigabyte to evga is silly, these companies are massive in comparison.

Solution, buy an PCIe NIC adapter - NIC's are cheap.
