I've got a new 750GT Supernova and the power shuts down after around 30seconds.  It doesn't seem to have a voltage switch on it (or am I missing something?) so I don't think that's the problem.

Has anyone else had this issue?  Is there any additional information that I can provide that might make what's going on more "diagnosable" (sic)?

Sounds like it may be shutting down to protect your hardware/itself. Could also be an overheating issue with the unit. Is the fan spinning on it? What are your full system specs?

If the fan inside the psu case itself never spins then I would suspect a overheating issue. If the fan inside the psu case does spin then I would suggest removing your gpu from the system, and turing on the computer to see if the system will stay running for longer than 30 seconds.

Try running the system with your gpu removed for like 30 minutes to see if the fan ever turns on.

Tried running the system with the GPU removed.  No change - stayed on for a short time (somewhere between 30-60seconds) and turned off.

p/s - all the questions (and some of the writing here) is coming from my 13 year-old son (he's the one who built the PC).  We both really appreciate your help.

Try going into the hardware monitor section of your motherboard BIOS (typically you need to tap Delete when it's booting up).  From there, look for the CPU temps and power supply voltages (+12V, +3.3V, and +5V).

Completely disconnect the psu from your hardware, and then test it like shown above in the article. To monitor if the psu is staying on while you’re testing it simply power a single case fan to see if the psu is staying on. If the unit fails to keep the case fan on for 3 minutes without shutting down then I would rma the unit as there is clearly something wrong with it.

I've completely disconnected the PSU from the hardware.  I followed the instructions, and while I have the EVGA detection tool,  I don't see a 24-pin connector anywhere on the PSU so I couldn't complete the instructions.

This is what my PSU looks like:

Without a 24-pin cable you wouldn’t even be able to start your computer. The 24-pin cable needs to still be connected to your psu, but not connected to the motherboard.

Ok - I have the 24-pin cable.  We followed the instructions and plugged-in the PSU.  The fan spins for a moment, then stops. According to the instructions on that test page, it seems that it might be time for us to submit a support ticket.

The GT power supplies have auto-ECO mode, so it would be normal for the fan to turn off shortly after turning on the power supply.

I recommend connecting something like a case fan to the power supply to see if it remains on after using the PSU tester to jump the power supply.

Exactly. That is what I said in post #9.
