Same thing happened to me with the pop and then innermost LED on solid red as pictured by others here. Worked great for nearly 2 months before failing. PSU is EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G5, 80 Plus Gold 1000W. Edit: Got my RMA and back up and running. But be warned, they are sending cards with some kind of bright red plastic design on the end as RMA replacements. It looks like some kind of specially marked demo unit or possibly they colored it to warn that it was already RMA'd. Will probably affect resale value and definitely will hurt aesthetic for those with transparent cases. Lipstick red doesn't go well with the rainbow RGB.

No, they are not🤣. The "Clownlip design" was the first iteration of 30 series Cards. EVGA changed the design to "Black lip" after getting feedback from customers, that this looks completely off. Some people say, the Red Lip Cards have a lower failure rate and better binning than the Black Lips. I can't confirm or deny that. It's just Rumors to me. I'm on the second Black Lip right now.

Some people say, the Red Lip Cards have a lower failure rate and better binning than the Black Lips. I can't confirm or deny that.
It's just Rumors to me. I'm on the second Black Lip right now.
Thanks for explaining, I'm not sure if it's good luck or bad luck to get clowned on like this  if it keeps running I'll be happy though

3090 Just popped and got red light of death, Corsair AX1600i power supply, DEFINITELY not a power supply issue, PSU is relatively new (less than 1 year) and plopped my 2080 Ti back in no issues. Black lipped card. 2014 Dead Gang

Just did a RMA on a brand new one that came in yesterday and it is a 2114. Red light over the left most power connector. I am using a SuperNova G3 1000w psu

The QA for these cards seems to be extremely lacking, which is disappointing.

RMA started, but the fact so many people are having so many problems - recall the damn cards already and fix the problems.
It is fixed...on the kingpin and 3080. I believe they have acknowledged it though, but not recall. Send them an email and see. Worst case scenario: keep RMA’ing it or resell it and get a different card if they keep dying on you.

NEVER EVER WILL I BUY EVGA AGAIN!!! THIS COMPANY IS A COMPLETE MESS!!!
- Not only they deliver HIGH END (and VERY EXPENSIVE) 3090 FTW3 ULTRA boards out of power consumption standard specs due to a very poor and low cost HW design moreover not properly tested...
but !
- Their European Consumer support is a COMPLETE MESS !!! They are even not able to handle the RMA properly and my parcel is stuk at the German entry customs for many days waiting for EVGA Europe paperwork acceptance !!!!

Mi EVGA Geforce RTX 3090 FTW3 ULTRA ha muerto. Led rojo sobre conector izquierdo encendido. Fuente de alimentación EVGA Supernova G3 850W Plus Gold Modular.
Por lo que veo en este foro y otro similar, debo ir solicitando la RMA ya.
Vivo en España. Espero que no se demore mucho este proceso en Europa.

I just got my third FTW3 yesterday, also serial 2114.
I've been running folding during the work day and plan to do some games tonight. Place your bets.
I'm not an overclocker, I just want it to work out of the box., although I did install this one with the Normal/OC switch in OC this time, so the fans stay on.

Well, small update just for fun. My 3rd 3090 (2nd RMA replacement) is on route from EVGA with an ETA to myself of Jan. 26th. I was slightly excited (if anything 3090 can even excite me anymore) to see a 2114 serial number rather than the 2 prior 2014s that have previously failed. There isn't much online about the 2114 serial numbers but I do see 1 recent reddit post of a failed card so not going to get my hopes up too much.

I'm glad to know about this, I was hearing about some issues about the 3090, I know that evga is really good with their warranties, but I think lack of stock might create problems.

Similar situation, EVGA 1000w G5 PSU. First FTW3 was a 2014 serial with black trim. Replacement was 2114 with red trim. The replacement also just failed with the red light. If it's the 1000w power supplies, maybe EVGA should take EVGA to court!  I would have kept my old card if I knew EVGA was like this. They're asking me to cover the shipping again, no exceptions. The RMA has been pending approval for over 2 days. Called, but support was not able to approve. Card failed on a Friday, and it sounds like I would be lucky to get approved before the end of Monday since RMA wasn't in until Saturday in the early AM hours. Hopefully the next refurb will be kind enough to fail in the middle of a business week.

I know it’s been a while but i’m hoping to hear some peoples updates on the newer erika numbers when they RMA’d
i have also joined the red light of death club. 3090 ftw3, 2014 serial number installed hybrid kit almost 18months ago. 1000w evga t2 titanium psu.
was in the main menu of a game and pc shut off and i heard a pop when it powered back on. now farthest left 8pin showing red light and cars seems dead.

Same here.
Bought dez. 2020. red light jun 2022. also round about 18 month.
Serial was 2012.
Rma arrived with 2219.
Worked 3 days.
Now again rma :(
They still sending out rev 0,1 boards with pci watt bug.
I don’t know what todo :/. It’s always a huge effort to change the waterblock.

Yes. I have a real waterblock and always change back to original cooler.
Evga Never had problems with this. That’s good.
But!!!
It’s very high effort to change it back and all of the pads can’t be reused. I use apex 11w pads.
So round about 30 Euro Pads and 12€ resend.

+1.... unfortunately, you have to advocate for yourself because no one else will......anywhere, anytime. If you intervene and tell them specifically what you want and why they will usually do it, but if you just let the guys in the back fill the orders and send them out then thats whats going to happen.

My 3090 is a 2114 black lip ultra gaming that i got in may of last year thru step up and its been great. Although, i did put the hybrid kit on it maybe 6 months into owning it and did a modded copper pads on the back vram with fujipoly ultra extreme pads and the highest the memory has gotten is 72c while torturing it. So it came be tamed and you can have a great gpu but it really needs a little tlc being its a top tier unit and they put vram on the rear. Any card that is setup like this with rear pcb vital components is going to be a handful.
