I'm about 6+ months in with this board. Have made no changes (other than update to bios 2.01, which unfortunately doesn't seem to include any of the pre-saved profiles that the prior version included...). Otherwise, cpu / memory all compatible etc. Using o/c robot settings for cpu and xmp profile for ram. As of a week or so ago, the boot process started showing issues. First boot sequence started taking longer than usual (e.g., went from 15-30 seconds to 60 seconds, so markedly different). Now, post sequence seems to hang at post code 10, with CATERR light off and before the VCCIO_1_2 Status lights up. It hangs in that state for about 60 seconds, turns off and recycles to the same state (i.e., loops in this state). If i restart via CMOS Reset Button, i am sent back into the bios where i can reload the prior profile, save and restart, and get into the OS thereafter without issue....

Sounds like the issue is related to the overclock you’re running. No issues at optimized defaults?

Thanks for the quick response Sajin, it's a 5.1 OC (with core 1 and 2 @ 5.2) on a 10900k at defaults. And i'm not benchmarking or otherwise pushing the cpu. I've had the same OC since day 1 (plus core 1 and 2 @ 5.3 and some minor tweaks to voltages) that ran stable (i.e., not a single crash). So I didn't really focus on this minor OC as the possible issue... in any case, i haven't tried @ defaults, but what are 'optimized' defaults?

Optimized defaults is when you press F7 in your bios and are prompted to load optimized defaults which are the default settings for the board.

Pressing F7 in bios loads the 'saved profiles' list, all of which are empty except for the profile i saved...

Well one of the F keys should prompt you to load optimized defaults. Try F5.

It's F5... loading optimized defaults and resetting has me stuck at post code 00....

Going back and reloading the light OC profile per above, save/reset and boot back into OS fine. At this point, here's what's happening consistently (i) if i shut down PC, on reboot it will get stuck at post code 10 and (ii) when i CMOS reset, i can reload the same OC profile and boot in without issue and use PC without issue, as long as i don't repeat step (i) (which is shut down my PC, as in overnight or whatever)....

If this issue didn’t occur on an older bios I would revert to an older one.

It did, that caused me to check for an update and load 2.01. So this was happening on the old bios and is happening on the new bios.

Well since your post code goes to 00 at optimized defaults I would replace the board... https://forums.evga.com/m.m.aspx?m=3075918&p=1

I appreciate the thoughts, but wouldn't the fact that this is an issue only on boot from cold/off (i.e., i can cmos reset, load my profile and boot without issue, everytime) suggest a more narrow issue than the mob being bad? Just seems like tossing the baby out with the bath water...

Feel free to keep using you’re workaround. 00 on cold start shouldn’t be happening at default settings. Maybe you should call evga tech support to see what they suggest.

Doesn't the Z490 Kingpin Dark have 3 BIOs? Did you try all three?

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA
