Hello all so i have been gone some years from PC gaming and i just made a new build to come back. I am having some questions with this 3070 Ti i got. Just to let you know i am new to 4k Gaming and Raytracing.
In games like RE2, RE3 at 4k with Raytracing my temps are 80c-85c. Without raytracing is 75c-80c.
New World 4k Med Settings 87c-90c
VR Half Life Alyx High Fidelity 87c-92c
The IDLE temps is 45c-50c

Are this temps normal for the work i am giving this card?
In the box say the safe temp to avoid throttle is 65c-70c.
I was thinking of repasting it but it has a sticker in a screw that will void the warranty if remove and i am still on time to return it to store.
My room temp 67c

These cards do run hot, but that's really high.  Usually with decent case ventilation, most of the cards can stay at 80C or lower.  Have you tried removing your case covers to see if that helps?  What case do you have?  Fans?

EVGA will honor the warranty even if you take the card apart, but in order to RMA it you have to use OEM thermal pads/putty.  EVGA will supply the pads/putty if you need it through customer support.

The case i have right now is the phanteks evolv shift 2 air. With all panels opened the temp go down 1c to 2c but not much. Tomorrow i will be getting the Fractal Design Torrent Nano but i believe this case that i have now is good with airflow and with the side panel removed is getting air straight from outside. So even in 4k raytracing on this temps seem to high for you?

Well the stock thermal limit is 83C. That can be maxed out to 90C. So hitting 90C is high. I'm surprised the card even gets to 90C really. You're certain you're looking at the core temp, not hot spot or VRAM temp?

Otherwise it's possible they did a poor paste job from the factory. I've seen quite a few people pop up with cards like that (not necessarily EVGA).

Just built a home office PC with that case this weekend. You put any other case fans in it, or just the stock 140mm? I would think though, even with just the lousy stock fan it would do well enough. It's basically an open air case. I still would have put a 140mm intake fan at the bottom blowing up to help exhaust heat.

I'm assuming you are looking at temps in Precision X1?
    Custom fan profile?

Yes i have a Noctua 140 at bottom pushing cold air up. I am using HW Monitor, Asus Tweak and MSI Afterburner to see temps. I just did a custom fan profile that from 75c will do fan 100% and on New World stays at 82c at 100% fan speed. Same with RE3 at 4k raytracing on stays at 80c 100% fan. I believe i am gonna return this video card and pay the extra $50 to get the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FTW3 Ultra just for the cooling technology.

3070ti, but which 3070ti? There are many different models of the 3070ti, so clarification of exactly which one you have would be best.

You also said you are using Asus Tweak and MSI afterburner to monitor temps, on top of HWInfo. You should only have one software controlling the GPU at a time, so hopefully you don’t have asus tweak and msi afterburner open at the same time. That could cause the two softwares to argue.

Also, your first post says that your room temp is 67c. If that were true, that would be your problem :-). I think you meant 67f.

Like i said i am new to 4k gaming lol. So a 3080 would be better for 4k? But in youtube i see videos of 3070 Ti playing at 4k and this one beside the temps is doing awesome at 4k giving me more frames that i need so i cap it to 60 because that is the max of my monitor.

The card is the Asus Tuf Gaming 3070 Ti ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Video Card TUF-RTX3070TI-O8G-GAMING - Newegg.com
I run the monitoring software one at a time after a restart of the PC each time i will change the one i am going to use.

My Evga 3070 ti ftw 3 maxed at (ambient 70f) Core 65c, 70c hot spot, 62 to 65c memory junction before water cooling. my recommendation is to undervolt. Out of the box the voltage is too high.my card runs 1995 mhz at .950 volts with 250mhz overclock on ram. Google undervolting with Msi Afterburner. Safer place to start no disassembly required. Good luck

The Asus Tuf cards have got decent reviews, but some samples had cold plate flatness and pressure issues, I think you may have got a bad sample and repasting may not help if it is a marginal cooler plate. I use Afterburner and use about a 30% fan floor and hitting 80% by the mids 70s, I think this card should be mid 60 to mid 70s with this size cooler on this 3070ti load, You did right by taking the cover off and looking if it dropped a bunch, It did not, so it's the card. If you are in the window to make a return, I definitely would, sorry for your troubles, a 3070 Ti should be in the upper mid 60s ideally.

Thank you. So i decided to return it and i will get the EVGA 3080 FTW Ultra. Hopefully it can do 4k60 no problem under normal temps.

I have moved your thread over to the hardware section so that more people can give you input. The purpose of the move is the EVGA 30 series forums is for EVGA products, and since your questions pertained you an ASUS product, more people in the hardware section can see.

Like Kraade stated, you may have an imperfection on your cold plate. You could try reposting, but it is unlikely to help a lot, unless there was an air gap in the paste. If you are moving over to the EVGA card, hopefully the experience will be better. Moving from a 3070ti to a 3080 will not be a massive performance jump either way. A few percent in difference, but your temps should be lower.

yes sir, A 3070 ti can't match a 3080 in performance but the temp will be more , nothing like what you had but at stock (quiet bios switch) the FTW3 3080 can see about 80-82C at 100% load, *with stock fan curve*, just use the OC switch to get a a better fan curve right out of the box or make your own with Afterburner.  The 3080 can also undervolt comfortably getting great performance at reduced Temps and power, if you ever want to
