Just find a schematic of the ftw3 and xc3 if you'll be doing that. You don't want to mess up your card. Plus the pump on these sometimes go pretty quick, so any modifications to the shroud might void your warranty.

280 just falls short. I have 4 fans on that thing and it cant cool 3080ti under heavy load. You need at least 360 and coper shims.

What do you mean it can't cool it? I have a 3080ti and it cools just fine. If you are referring to the memory temps, then yes I agree. I myself did buy a copper plate for it and now it is how it should be!

Well I got both items and I can tell you I am not disappointed. I think the highest I have seen my memory get to is 64C. The hot spot is lower than that by a few degrees. GPU hits around 50c on average. This hybrid cooler is awesome. No noise issue, the only thing I would like to see changed is that the fan connector cable get lengthened a bit so that you can tuck the connectors behind motherboard tray. I do believe the copper replacement from coolmygpu has helped alot. I also think there has been a revision of the cooler itself. The hose connector does not require you to screw it in now.

That's awesome! Your memory temp is better than mine! I think the mod is definitely a good one, I wish it exited on the stock hybrid cooler as is instead of us needing to mod it ourselves (I believe the 3090tis hybrid cooler already has a copper plate but I am not sure, I have just read about it). Interesting to note about the hose, are you talking about where the pump is? I know that for the FTW hybrid kit, you need to screw in the plastic piece to the shroud and it it will hold the bump/hose in place, but for the XC3 hybrid kit you do not have that.

I got this hybrid kit: P/N: 400-HY-1988-B1. Ahhh, just noticed the difference between the two. Yes, there are 2 screws that you have to screw into the shroud. I misspoke about that. The first time I mounted the hybrid and tried to play a game the screen went blank and the fans went to 100%. Took me a couple of minutes to figure out that there must be some kind of mounting issue as the hot spot was hitting 106 in no time. And of course when I took it apart again only half the GPU die was in contact with the cooler. Not sure how that happened but repasted with MX4 and it's all good now. Was scared for a bit with that mounting issue.

I think it is. Quality of RMA items for the hybrid are also not that great at all, or not even looked at. Even if you manage to get one, I would avoid it. You would probably be better on getting a 3rd party hybrid kit or put a waterblock on it.
