So my RMAd Hybrid 3080 XC3 was shipped back.

Buzzing pump RMA'd.
 
It came back missing the outer box shell, which I like to collect.   Oh well whatever,  but what did they do to it?  No email, no support ticket update with any explanation.   It would be nice if I could learn what happened.  Did they replace the pump? Did they send me another?

    Ya try it yet?

    Mental note to myself.. don't ship the card back in the original box. Use anti static bag to seal the card and a ton of bubble wrap and some other box to mail the card in for rma.

    Honestly I believe they tell you not to ship* the card with the original contents of the box.. just the card as you won't get those items back with the replacement card.

    they sent you a refurbished card, your card is going to get repaired and placed into refurbished inventory to be sold as B-Stock or held for RMA replacements...

    Hrm I swore it was just cables and what not in the RMA list of things.  But yeah I'll keep that in mind myself.   I  just got spooked by the part where it said you'll be charged if it's missing anything so I sent it all back.

    You're right it's a different S/N.  It was sent the next day after mine arrived.  I truely hope they do full on quality refurbishments with other returned cards.

    I didn't RMA a card but I RMA'd the hybrid kit itself. I received a refurbished item, I even called and asked them to confirm. I also asked if I can keep the retail box and just send it back in the gray/black box they sent me and they said yes. (I had a cross-ship RMA, so they sent me an advanced replacement with a prepaid UPS label, so me shipping an item back was easy since I just reused the packaging)

    I wouldn't worry about whether it's refurbished or not. I think their quality control is higher on refurbished items because they actually test them out. Also my refurbished hybrid kit seemed brand new, I don't really know what was old but I think just the shroud (still looked brand new) , as the pump it self seemed new. Eitherway my RMA'd refub has been quiet since I got it. Way longer than the brand new pump.

    Only disadvantage is that I have only a one year warranty, where yours is longer. 🤞

    Did they send you a KL card or a KR card?

    Believe it or not, I got a KR back.  Arrived yesterday.  The one I sent in was a KR tho so nice to see the consistency.
