https://www.techpowerup.com/294910/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-twice-as-fast-as-rtx-3090-features-16128-cuda-cores-and-450w-tdp

NVIDIA's next-generation GeForce RTX 40 series of graphics cards, codenamed Ada Lovelace, is shaping up to be a powerful graphics card lineup. Allegedly, we can expect to see a mid-July launch of NVIDIA's newest gaming offerings, where customers can expect some impressive performance. According to a reliable hardware leaker, kopite7kimi, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card will feature AD102-300 GPU SKU. This model is equipped with 126 Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs), which brings the total number of FP32 CUDA cores to 16128. Compared to the full AD102 GPU with 144 SMs, this leads us to think that there will be an RTX 4090 Ti model following up later as well.

Paired with 24 GBs of 21 Gbps GDDR6X memory, the RTX 4090 graphics card has a TDP of 450 Watts. While this number may appear as a very power-hungry design, bear in mind that the targeted performance improvement over the previous RTX 3090 model is expected to be a two-fold scale. Paired with TSMC's new N4 node and new architecture design, performance scaling should follow at the cost of higher TDPs. These claims are yet to be validated by real-world benchmarks of independent tech media, so please take all of this information with a grain of salt and wait for TechPowerUp reviews once the card arrives.

Looks like the rumor mill is winding up. I am still not convinced of a July launch.

I doubt very much a July launch as well, but what I'm more curious is what this card's MSRP is gonna be. I'm gonna guess $2499 which is just ridiculous for a consumer level video card even for an enthusiast level card. The RTX 3090 Ti is already stupid at $1999.99 while the regular 3090 was treading water into the nonsensical range at $1499. If this thing launches at the $2k USD price point this will be the first generation of card in quite a while that I just don't bother upgrading to.

The 3080 was the flagship of the 30XX series when it launched by NVIDIA CEO the 3090 was already considered by NVIDIA as the enthusiast level card. That said though the 4090 is more of a card built for those who would have bought SLI rigs in the past and for those people who owned SLI 2080Ti they already have shown the market exists for customers who will spend $2500. As for me I am more interested in what the 4080 or 4080Ti looks like for benchmarks since I haven't moved up yet to a 4K monitor. Only reason for me to go with a 4090 would be if the dynamic scaling will increase object detail when my frame rate goes beyond 144hz.

The only thing I don’t like about the upcoming 4090 is that all the cores aren’t there from the start 16128 when it’s suppose to be 18432.

Gotta leave room for more product releases such as 4090 super & ti.

If they give us full FP64 double precision calculations like the v100 I would buy one
For the crazy prices high they are charging they really should.

It also gives room to answer what AMD might do. If NVIDIA gets out a card early and finds AMD is better than expected they can get out the Super or the Ti faster if not then they can give a slight bump of faster memory and make the 5090 look even better down the road.

Hasn't the cadence been that the SUPER line is memory clock improvements and the Ti variants are extra unlocked cores??

Both super & ti provide more cores and faster memory. 18432 vs 16128 is a major gap this time... 2304 cuda cores to be exact. The 3090 ti was the titan card of the 3000 series. Titan cards usually provide a 256 cuda core increase over a ti card which is what the 3090 was this gen, but nvidia decided to call it a 90 instead this time around. With that many cuda cores untapped on the 4090 I can see many other super, ti, or even something new being released after the 4090 to offer people better performance than 4090.

With those kind of modeling sequence, will they justify it for higher pricing since the xx90s are known to be $$$$?  What happens if we hit a nasty recession, will they drop the price? lol

I would say yes to your first question as we are talking about nvidia here. They will most likely drop the price if nobody is buying I would think.

Skip. The 3080 Ti / 12900K combo I have is more than enough for now, and should last me years. At least I won’t be stressing about pricing and availability (or PSU requirements). I’ll be keeping an eye on performance though. I love tech, but I personally don’t need to upgrade to every new generation of it. It still baffles me why some people buy every new phone upgrade that’s released.

Nvidia had to shave off 2304 cuda cores to keep the tdp at 450w. 18176 for 4090 would have been a monster. 🤣😎

+1 the prices are out of hand for a consumer grade gaming cards. The prices are more up towards workstation cards... The speed is a little faster than 2x 3090's though, and yeah Im sure the lower wattage being reported is from the nvidia founders style cards, the vendors I can tell you seeing the ES's use a bit more wattage. I will say the 4090's from the vendors rip and tear though Super Ultrawide 1440p to 4k. Yet the price yeah... how about no from a gamers perspective.

But the 3090 and 3090ti, as well as 4090 and 4090ti will not be considered “consumer grade” because that will be the 3080 and 3080ti range of products. The 4090 and 4090ti will be more focused toward the content creators that NEED 24gb of VRAM, not standard gamers/consumers that would be able to use much less with no performance loss.

People will buy the 4090 and 4090ti as if it is strictly intended for gaming, but NVidia has never been shy about overpricing the titan style cards that aren’t meant for consumers and gamers, knowing that some gamers will still buy them.
