Going nuts.. I have an older cablemod set for the evga 1300 g2 (boight from evga years ago) and replaced it with a 1600 watt p+ thinking I'd be able to use the same cable set.. Not!

The atx cable at the psu end is different.. as in the atx cable uses all available pins. Unlike the older atx cable which has 2 pins in the middle missing.

So the psu won't power up with it.. will power on and off immediately.

So I'm stuck using the stock black evga atx cable with the older set of white case mods cables.

I ended up last night buying a new set of cablemod pro cables thinking it would work.. I seen a YouTube video and it looked like this set uses all the atx pins from the psu end of the atx cable..

Open the new set tonight and it's the same as the old set.. just thicker cables!

So dumb.. as it shows it will work with other evga model 1600 watt psus so I figured it would work.

So anyone know of a set of cables that works on the evga 1600 p+ ???

Response on Amazon was only 1600watt P2..

So shouldn't evga like have some info on what changed on the atx 24pin connection?

I find it nuts thst their is 0 info on the change.. no reviewer even mentions it.

So I guess either I deal with ugly black atx atx cable with white sleeved everything else or return the psu and go back to my 1300 watt.

Looked at that plenty of times and seems all useless knowledge cause it refers to old sets of sleeved cables which evga don't sell anymore.. and I even have the 1300 g2 set of cables to which it shows p+ next to which it will fit the 1600 p+ model but won't power up with the atx cable installed using the supplied psu tester.. on and off that fast.

For the 1600 watt cables it even shows p+ next to it with the T2 and P2 and they need to take the P+ off the list cause it won't work.

When using custom cables - make sure you also Test the SATA cables also, we have seen some sad stories on the Forums about "smoked" SSD drives

Maybe thst FAQ just pertains to the other cables that are compatible in the set like sata and pcie.. but it's not talking about the main ATX cable.

So after hearing people talk about how tight liped evga is on these newer psu models and not willing to send them out to reviewers.. makes me nervous about keeping this.

Also a loud click when it turns on and off.. haha.. no idea.

I don't hear the coil whine that others have mentioned.. but I guess I'm the only one trying 3rd party custom sleeved cables cause theirs 0 talk or info on it.

You could take 2 cables from the new set you bought and use them to connect the missing ones.

Well I'd have to cut the large cable webbing off the the evga 1600 p+ atx cable first to see where those 2 wires go.. most likely spliced into other wires as both atx ends are the same.

I'm not doing that and eating $100 for the cablemod set as well.

Just returning them both and waiting for evga to put the 1600 T2 or P2 back on sale or bust.. stuck with the 1300 G2.

Or you could grab a cheap multi-meter (Harbor Freight frequently gives them away for free w/a purchase for example) and check the continuity of each wire in the plugs to find out which one goes where on each end of the plug.

No need to cut up any cabling then.

Yeah thought of thet plenty of times but knew the wire would be spliced with another wire.

IF I was desperate enough I could of made my own wires for the addition.

After reading so many reviews online from people claiming the psu was so noisy with bad coil whine (even though mine was quiet) and not knowing what oem made the psu and no websites or youtubers ever got a sample to test for some reason.. I felt, why bother with it. In a month or so it might end up being a screamer.. and passed.

My 4 year old evga 1300 G2 has been a champ for me and should be fine till the next round of newer psu's come out eith the new pcie 5 standard.

If the T2/P2 go on sale again I may just grab one.

Also those new Cablemod pro cables I bought also has atleast 3-4 wires spliced together on the atx cable.. haha.. I would of lived with it had it powered up.. oh well.

Believe me when I say I had plenty of the atx pins and wire :/ Made my own sleeved extensions a decade + ago and still have them. And newer soft cables and crap from making arcade harnesses.

    Would of been fun.

Returned the psu/cable set yesterday to Amazon.
