Hi Y'all.

I have a 3080 ti hydro copper inbound and this is the first time I've ordered (that I can recall) a fully assembled Hydro Copper (for various reasons, mostly availability).
980 ti
1080 ti
2080 ti
3080 (couldn't get a hydro block, used an ek block)

Given the nature of installing the blocks myself, I've always had to repaste and always chose to use some sort of liquid metal TIM.

This time I really don't have to do anything but leak test and go...but part of me just cant do that.
Would some of you please share your experiences?

If you repasted before use, what was the state of the TIM from the factory? Dry? well applied? other?

What temps are you seeing and what does your loop look like?

I know, I know, why not just order the FTW 3 ultra and do it myself...the EK blocks are straight out of control this gen cost wise, from a value standpoint the Hydro Copper is a good deal (I mean yeah like $80 saved, but gotta draw the line somewhere)

How will you have a baseline if you destroy the baseline as soon as it arrives?
BTW, "dry" thermal paste is purposely dry. The "drier" (thicker) it is, the longer it lasts before needing to repaste.

    Thank you.

For the thermal paste, I meant dry as in no longer viable (I mean I do trust EVGA and all, but why not ask if anyone else has taken a peek).

I suppose you are correct about the baseline, but if I get it right the first time, that wont be so important.

Surprised you had success over the long term using liquid metal on a bare die. Tried it several times and would get temp abnormalities after a month or so. Never had an issue with LM on a CPU heat spreader. So, for GPU's, I went back to my old standby IC Diamond. which is so thick it is hard to spread without preheating.

If you wana order new thermal pads and all thet then be my guest.

The obvious answer is try it out and see if it's worth it after seeing the temps and crap.

For the thermal paste, I meant dry as in no longer viable (I mean I do trust EVGA and all, but why not ask if anyone else has taken a peek).

Again, dry thermal paste is purposely dry. The oil in thermal paste doesn't evaporate. Even though it is "dry", it is viable.
Thinner paste performs better, but pumps out and creates voids faster due to thermal expansion. Thicker thermal paste doesn't perform quite as good, but lasts longer before voids start forming. It's a matter of whether you want the thermal paste to "last" (before pump-out voids form) or perform a little better. Manufacturers often send out a product with thicker paste so that it will hopefully make it the warranty period without needing to be repasted.
