It's really nice, sadly lost some frames with CP 2077 lol so now I have to run DLSS in performance instead of quality, balance is still too much of a hit on frame drops, those extra pixels to render hurt a little. So this year when I upgrade my wifes computer she will get my cpu/board, I will drop a 12th gen i9 and z690 ddr4 board into mine to get the 20-30 frames back.

In the next few days will be making my 12th Gen I9 and a DDR4 z690 board purchase.
Kind of going back and forth between a MSI MPG z690 Edge and the ASUS Rog Strix Z690-a =/

I have a valid excuse, my wife’s gaming pc is 9 years old and is struggling. So upgraded and she got all my current pc’s main guts and take offs from when I got it. -.- getting the 1440p a Ultrawide made my system struggle. Now I’m back to at least close to max eye candy in cp 2077 DLSS has to be balanced have not tried quality yet if I go play with quality and have no bugs I’m good.

If I was really feeling the itch, I would have gone with a close to premium or a premium ddr5 board and ram.

Correct need to take better pictures and update my Mod Rigs, along with my score. i9 12900kF, MSI MPG Z690 Edge DDR4 board, Seagate Limited Edition Cyberpunk 2077 M.2 1TB SSD added. Still kind of bummed EVGA is not going to come out with a DDR4 Z690 board. =/

Well could not stand looking at the very over bent PCIE extensions from multiple changes to the build. Soooo this is probably my LAST upgrade I got it for 58 bucks... Will be on the hunt for a 3080 founders for my wife's pc, if I do not get one by the time the 40 series cards come I will get a 4080 or wait for the next series to come out. She only plays GW2 so the 1080 FTW2 ICX should be fine on my old 10th gen i9 and the other original hardware that came in this pc to take offs.

Well that Lian Li cable was a let down, not flexible enough, and was not going to remove my bottom fans for it. So straightened out my original extensions found my 24 and 8 cable comb tabs. Calling PC officially done now.
Here are my temps on air Ultrawide 1440p with a 12th gen I9 using an EK Elite 360 D-RGB combined with IC Diamond 24 TIM.

Looks good if a little busy but the theme works for what you went for. One thing though, why is your GPU and memory fans set to rainbow puke and everything else uniform colors? lol As for the monitor yeah, I told you, once you go ultrawide there is no going back to standard 16.9 monitors.

I need to control everything with OpenRGB, or get Whirlwind FX"s RGB program to control everything from a single piece of software. Kind of just up and running with the new board, been installing to play testing games. Yeah, you were 100% right, no way I could ever go back to a regular to wide display after this... no way on earth.

Well added a kit of G.SKILL Trident Z Royal Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 4000 (PC4 32000) Desktop Memory Model F4-4000C16D-32GTRSA
With just XMP it will run at its rated speed/timing/voltages on this z690 DDR4 board in 1t G1 no issues at all. It will not even kick into gear 2. Just messing around got it to 5200mhz easily.

Wondering if I should had gone with 2x32gb 4000mhz none Samsung b-die sticks probably would be micron instead.

Well fans changed out, fan/led power hub added.

Ambient Temps around 77-78F maybe a little hotter.

Ambient Temps in office back to 76F with the office exhaust intake filter changed "dogs clog it up good*

Took a bios flash I guess the last one was borked, but still have a slight bow on the lid so core 5 is being a little bit of a pain... Really need to find the right 1mm M4 washers to do the mod.

I have found a lot but you have to be careful not all are a true 1mm, then you have to get the right width... so it fits perfectly under the socket mount.

Well Swapped out six Lian Li Bora ARGB 120mm fans for EK Vardar's as mentioned above. Think I am done until the 40 series. Now just waiting on the Signal RGB to have its big update come out so hopefully their software controls all my LED's. Seems we will need new psu's too and PSU's in general are dropping in price big time.

Re: Do not even know what to name this... 2022/04/20 20:08:10 (permalink)
Well with the upgrade of the Ultrawide 1440p display, I was not able to play CP 2077 on anything below performance or I would hit vram limits, no idea why, or how, or why the fastest cars in that game would get yeeted at DLSS Quality or Balanced at that resolution but it happened. Seems the 3080 12gb at least has stopped that, no idea why. 3% extra cores or the 20% increase in bus speed resulting in more memory bandwidth and an extra 2gb of vram. Or it's a combination of all those things.  Was hitting the 10200 range and hit the max max... normally when that happened FPS tanked to 14fps was not fun. So I have had to play the game in performance since around December of last year.  Both pc’s will need power supplies as they won’t be upgraded again for a long time, to account for wear/degradation and loss of efficiency over the long run. The 1200 will go into my wife’s machine and so guess I will be needing/wanting a titanium 1300w…

System now has an EVGA RTX 3080 12GB FTW3 Ultra boost clock is 2077 without me overclocking. So pretty pleased, no more drops to 14 fps, no more car yeets in Cyberpunk 2077, not exceeding my vram now, also was not expecting a 4-13 FPS depending on the game.

The last crazy thing my Core i9 12900kf with enhanced Turbo on with some tweaking for a little more speed and my EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra also overclocked score I had to work for that put me in number 30 in the world for my config for a time was beaten with the same cpu and the 3080 12gb FTW3 Ultra on both CPU and GPU scores while both stock.

My wife's PC that was the Veteran on here "just the case" got my 3080 FTW3 Ultra. She was using an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2. I was sort of rushed on have her pc up and going in two hours. So she got a 2hr build and like 20min worth of cable management.

TY much just have one more thing left I want to do, to handle the CPU lid bowing issue. none here or anywhere could not direct me where to get the exact washers I needed that are the correct size as they are labeled. A ton of the washers out that that are the 1mm m4 washers or whatever are not really the size they say they are and a little off... So get to wait for this to come to the USA....

Just get the 1mm washers and see for yourself if it affects performance.  I highly doubt the 1mm being slightly off will change anything.

It does according to the guy who found out about it and published it. To get my cpu back to its max potential cooling I had I will need the washers to be exact if you do not want your lid bowed at all, or I can just spend 7 bucks when this comes available and call it a day. Plus I do not want to buy a tool I will use once when measuring a bunch of washers. From what I have read people have had to toss out a lot of washers or return the ones they could because they were not exactly the right size they were advertised as.
